The Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath is set to launch a major farmer registry campaign from September 16, 2025. This initiative, led by the Revenue Department, aims to link farmers’ land records with Aadhaar to ensure timely access to welfare schemes without procedural delays.
Linking Land Records with Aadhaar for Better Governance
The campaign will mandate that District Magistrates monitor progress daily and submit reports, ensuring strict accountability. By matching land ownership details with Aadhaar, the government seeks to eliminate errors and incomplete entries in land records that often deprive farmers of benefits. To standardize implementation, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be issued for all revenue officers across districts.
More Than Half of Farmers Already Registered
Out of the targeted 2.88 crore farmers, 1.45 crore have already been registered, crossing the halfway mark. This achievement reflects the government’s progress, although registering the remaining farmers continues to be a challenge.
Bijnor Leads in Farmer Registration
Bijnor district has recorded the highest progress with more than 58% registration. Hardoi, Shravasti, Pilibhit and Rampur follow closely, with registration levels above 56%. Mr. Yogi Adityanath has appreciated officials of these districts and urged others to accelerate efforts.
Special Focus on Lagging Districts
Districts falling behind targets will come under strict scrutiny, with additional teams deployed to assist. Officials will be held accountable individually. Notably, districts such as Amroha, Azamgarh, Balrampur, Etah and Jaunpur have achieved 100% data verification, a significant milestone in ensuring reliable farmer databases.
Integration with PM Kisan Yojana
The Chief Minister has directed that registration under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana be completed fully so that no eligible farmer misses out on the upcoming installment. District Magistrates will shoulder dual responsibilities of completing the registry and ensuring full enrolment in the PM Kisan scheme.
Awareness Drives Through IEC Activities
Alongside registration, the government will conduct IEC (Information, Education and Communication) activities through posters, pamphlets, local media and village outreach. These efforts will inform farmers about the importance of registration and how it simplifies access to government schemes.
Strong Administrative Push from CM Yogi
Mr. Yogi Adityanath has made it clear that the farmer registry campaign is a top priority. Any delay will invite direct accountability of the District Magistrate concerned. Officials emphasize that the government has consistently worked towards a digital and transparent system in schemes like crop insurance and food grain distribution, and the farmer registry is another milestone in this journey.
Farmers Welcome the Move
Farmers have expressed cautious optimism. While some find the process time-consuming, they believe it will bring lasting benefits. A farmer from Bijnor noted that earlier corrections in land records took months, but Aadhaar-based verification is expected to make the system faster and more reliable.
