Thousands of civil services aspirants from economically weaker backgrounds are set to take a significant step towards their dream careers as the Uttar Pradesh government conducts the entrance examination for its IAS-PCS Residential Coaching Scheme on Sunday. The initiative aims to provide deserving candidates with free coaching and residential facilities to prepare for prestigious competitive examinations such as UPSC and UPPSC.

More Than 10,000 Aspirants to Take the Test

According to the Social Welfare Department, a total of 10,175 candidates have registered to appear for the entrance examination. Those who qualify will be admitted to residential coaching centres established by the state government.

The new academic session will begin on August 1 and continue until May 31, 2027, offering students nearly ten months of structured preparation under expert guidance.

865 Seats Across Seven Residential Coaching Centres

This year’s coaching programme will accommodate 865 students at seven residential coaching centres across Uttar Pradesh.

Officials said that 25% of the total seats have been earmarked for candidates selected through the preliminary examination under the lateral entry provision. The reservation aims to ensure that deserving aspirants who have already demonstrated their potential receive an opportunity to continue their preparation through the government-supported programme.

Apart from classroom coaching, selected candidates will receive free accommodation, nutritious meals, books, study material and mentoring from experienced faculty members throughout the course.

Helping Talented Students Overcome Financial Barriers

The Social Welfare Department said the scheme has been designed to support talented youth from economically and socially disadvantaged sections by removing the financial burden associated with competitive exam preparation.

Officials stated that the state government remains committed to ensuring that economic constraints do not prevent deserving students from pursuing careers in the civil services. By providing comprehensive residential coaching free of cost, the programme seeks to improve access to quality preparation for examinations like the UPSC Civil Services Examination and the UPPSC Provincial Civil Services Examination.
