Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh is set to make its presence felt on the global stage as it participates in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026, scheduled to be held in Davos, Switzerland, from January 19 to 23. The state aims to utilise this prestigious international platform to engage with global investors, policymakers and industry leaders, while projecting itself as a fast-emerging hub for industrial growth, innovation and sustainable development.

The participation has been confirmed by Invest UP, the investment promotion and facilitation agency of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, through a post on social media platform X.

High-Level Delegation from Uttar Pradesh

According to Invest UP, a high-level delegation from the state will attend the Davos meeting. The delegation will be led by Uttar Pradesh’s Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Suresh Kumar Khanna, and coordinated by Invest UP.

“The high-level delegation showcases Uttar Pradesh’s strong commitment to global partnerships and long-term economic growth,” Invest UP stated, highlighting the state’s proactive approach to attracting international investment and forging strategic collaborations.

Focus on Investment, Innovation and Sustainability

At the World Economic Forum, Uttar Pradesh is expected to present its policy reforms, industrial infrastructure, investment-friendly ecosystem and opportunities across key sectors. The state will position itself as a preferred destination for manufacturing, innovation-led enterprises and sustainable development initiatives, aligning with India’s broader economic and growth ambitions.

Other Indian states, including Maharashtra, Assam and Kerala, are also participating in the WEF Annual Meeting, underlining India’s growing engagement with global economic forums.

About WEF Annual Meeting 2026

The World Economic Forum will convene its 56th Annual Meeting in Davos from January 19 to January 23, 2026. The event will bring together nearly 3,000 leaders from more than 130 countries at a time marked by heightened geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty and rapid technological transformation.

The meeting will be held under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue”, aiming to provide an impartial platform for leaders from government, business and civil society to reconnect, rebuild trust and explore collaborative solutions to global challenges that increasingly transcend national borders.

Global Challenges in Focus

This year’s programme is shaped by major global developments, including geopolitical realignments, slowing economic growth, trade frictions and accelerating technological change. Through sessions on geopolitics, global growth and governance, participants will examine ways to renew cooperation amid strained alliances, contested norms and eroding trust.

Strong Global Political Participation Expected

The WEF Annual Meeting 2026 is expected to witness record levels of government participation. Around 400 top political leaders, including nearly 65 heads of state and government and six leaders from the G7 nations, are expected to attend the summit, making it one of the most significant global gatherings of political and economic leadership.

Through its participation, Uttar Pradesh aims to strengthen its global outreach and reinforce its image as a key growth engine in India’s economic future.
