Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has set a target of making the state a developed state by 2035, with a focus on infrastructure, employment, tourism, industry and youth development.
Addressing the Independence Day celebrations in Dehradun, Dhami announced several new initiatives and highlighted ongoing development projects.
Seven Major Announcements
Dhami announced:
- Special industrial parks in Chamoli, Pauri and Almora.
- Uttarakhand’s first Youth Commission.
- A new youth self-employment and entrepreneurship scheme for people aged 18–30.
- Additional support for youth, ex-servicemen and Agniveers in border villages.
- State support under PMAY increased from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000.
- Extension of land regularisation provisions for Class-3 and Class-4 land.
- A new Bal Veerta Puraskar for courageous children.

Focus on Youth and Education
The Mukhyamantri Yuva Bhavishya Nirman Yojana will provide free online competitive-exam coaching to talented Class XI and XII students in government schools. The first phase will cover 10,000 students with ₹7 crore sanctioned.
Connectivity and Tourism Push
The government is focusing on the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway, Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and ropeway projects.
Dhami also highlighted the state’s efforts to expand tourism into wellness, adventure, film shooting and destination weddings.
Industry, Startups and Jobs
More than 20,000 industries have reportedly been established in Uttarakhand over the past five years, while startups have increased from around 700 to nearly 1,750.
The CM said more than 34,000 youths have secured government jobs during this period.
Sports and Science
Under the Sports Legacy Plan, 23 sports academies will be established in eight cities. Uttarakhand is also developing the country’s fifth Science City in Dehradun.
Dhami said the government’s larger goal is to achieve development while preserving Uttarakhand’s cultural identity and creating more employment opportunities for its people.
