Roorkee: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Roorkee in Haridwar district on Sunday, where he actively participated in multiple public and developmental programs, reinforcing the state government’s focus on youth empowerment, sports infrastructure, and tourism safety.
During the visit, CM Dhami first joined party workers and locals in listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat. The event set the tone for a day centered around youth interaction and development initiatives.
Youth Power Dialogue: Focus on Education, Jobs, and Innovation
A major highlight of the visit was the “Yuva Shakti Samvad” (Youth Power Dialogue) programme, where CM Dhami directly interacted with young participants.
During the session, he emphasized that the future of Uttarakhand lies in the hands of its youth. He highlighted ongoing government efforts to strengthen:
- Quality education and skill development
- Employment generation opportunities
- Startup ecosystem and innovation support
- Self-employment initiatives
The Chief Minister urged young people to actively contribute to building a “Developed Uttarakhand” through innovation and entrepreneurship.
Inauguration of Modern City Sports Complex in Roorkee
CM Dhami also inaugurated a newly developed, state-of-the-art City Sports Complex constructed at a cost of several crores by the Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA).
He stated that the facility will provide world-class infrastructure to athletes from Roorkee and surrounding regions. The complex is expected to significantly boost sports culture and help nurture emerging talent in the state.
During the event, the Chief Minister also tried his hand at gym exercises and badminton, interacting informally with players and showcasing encouragement toward fitness and sports participation.
Focus on Char Dham Yatra Safety and Management
Addressing the media, CM Dhami also provided updates on the ongoing Char Dham Yatra. He noted that the number of pilgrims this year has been steadily increasing.
He assured that the government is fully prepared to manage the pilgrimage smoothly, especially during the monsoon season. Key priorities include:
- Ensuring safety of pilgrims
- Strengthening disaster management preparedness
- Improving travel and logistics arrangements
- Maintaining uninterrupted and smooth travel experience
The Chief Minister reiterated that all necessary measures are being taken to make the Char Dham Yatra safe, simple, and convenient for devotees.
