Dehradun: In a significant development for infrastructure expansion and public facility development across the state, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions worth ₹105 crore for various road construction, public infrastructure, and development projects across multiple assembly constituencies in Uttarakhand.
The approvals come as part of preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela 2027, along with broader efforts to strengthen civic infrastructure across urban and rural regions of the state.
Major Push for Roads and Public Infrastructure
The sanctioned funds will be used for the construction and improvement of roads, along with development of essential public facilities in different districts. The state government aims to enhance connectivity, improve accessibility, and strengthen basic infrastructure ahead of large-scale events like the Kumbh Mela.
Temple Renovation and Beautification Projects Approved
Several religious and cultural development projects have also received approval, including:
- ₹93.36 lakh for beautification and renovation of Haruhit Temple, Kadoli Nagar Panchayat, Bhikiyasain
- ₹72.67 lakh for beautification of Maa Bal Kunwari Mata Temple in Kathud Bada, Devikhal (including phased funding approvals)
These initiatives aim to promote religious tourism and preserve local heritage sites.
Facilities for Women, Divyang and Transgender Persons
The Chief Minister has also approved ₹1.41 crore for the construction of separate toilets and additional rooms in labour courts across Dehradun, Kashipur, and Haridwar. The facilities are specifically designed for transgender persons, women, and persons with disabilities, improving accessibility and inclusivity in public institutions.
Tourism and Urban Development Projects
Under the tourism department, ₹1.50 crore has been sanctioned for development projects in the Ranikhet Assembly constituency of Almora district. Additionally, ₹4.96 crore has been approved for installation of LED street lights in Kotdwar Municipal Corporation, aimed at improving urban lighting and safety.
Infrastructure Development in Judicial and Municipal Sectors
Key infrastructure approvals also include:
- ₹18.59 lakh for construction of Type-III housing for judicial staff at Civil Court, Ramnagar (Nainital)
- ₹4.17 crore for 50-bedded barracks at Mayapur fire station under Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations (approved by the Central Government)
These developments are expected to improve administrative efficiency and emergency preparedness.
₹48.58 Crore Sanctioned for Waste Management and Urban Projects
A major allocation of ₹48.58 crore has been approved under the ring-fenced account for urban development. The funds will be used for:
- Construction of animal crematoriums in multiple municipal corporations
- Legacy waste management projects
- Purchase of garbage vehicles and equipment
This will benefit several urban local bodies including Haldwani, Rudrapur, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Nainital, and other municipalities.
Road Repair and Connectivity Projects Across Districts
Several road construction and repair projects have also been sanctioned:
- ₹7.76 crore for reconstruction of roads and drainage systems in Raipur (Dehradun) affected by disasters
- ₹13.73 crore for widening of Gaba Chowk to DD Chowk road in Rudrapur
- ₹4.02 crore for strengthening and asphalting of Chenagadh Baksir motor road in Rudraprayag
These projects aim to improve regional connectivity and disaster resilience.
State Scheme Approvals for Rural and Highway Connectivity
Additional infrastructure projects include:
- ₹3.87 crore for improvement of Vijaypur–Pahadpani pedestrian route in Haldwani (Lalkuan constituency)
- ₹9.87 crore for improvement and asphalt work from Maunpokhari to Harehwar Temple road in Champawat
- ₹4.06 crore for strengthening of Ramnagar–Kaladhungi–Haldwani–Sitarganj motor road up to Hanuman Dham Temple
These developments are expected to enhance rural access and strengthen key transport corridors.
The large-scale approvals reflect the state government’s focus on accelerating infrastructure development, improving urban services, and preparing for major events like Kumbh Mela 2027. The projects are expected to boost connectivity, tourism, public safety, and overall quality of life across Uttarakhand.
