Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday transferred approximately ₹11 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 4,400 workers under various schemes of the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The financial assistance was released through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, reinforcing the state government’s focus on transparency and efficient welfare delivery.
DBT Transfer for Multiple Welfare Schemes
The funds were disbursed during a programme held at the Chief Minister’s residence using a “one-click system”. Beneficiaries included eligible workers under several welfare schemes such as:
- Marriage assistance scheme
- Death benefit scheme
- Maternity assistance scheme
- Education assistance scheme
The initiative aims to provide timely financial support to construction workers and their families through streamlined digital processes.

CM Dhami Emphasises Wider Outreach of Welfare Schemes
During the event, Chief Minister Dhami directed officials to ensure wider publicity of labour welfare schemes so that all eligible workers can benefit from government initiatives. He stressed the need to organize special camps across different regions to connect more registered and eligible workers with welfare schemes.
He also instructed that workers should not face unnecessary difficulties in availing benefits and that the application process must remain simple and accessible.
Facilities to Be Made Available Near Worksites
The Chief Minister emphasized that essential materials and services should be made available near workers’ workplaces to improve accessibility. He said that providing facilities close to work sites would help increase participation and ensure better delivery of welfare benefits.
Focus on Health, Education, and Family Welfare
CM Dhami also highlighted the importance of workers’ health and the welfare of their families. He directed officials to organize:
- Regular health check-up camps for workers
- Special initiatives to promote education of workers’ dependent children
- Distribution of essential livelihood-related materials through dedicated camps
These measures aim to provide comprehensive social security support to labour families.
Transparency and Use of Technology in Welfare Delivery
The Chief Minister reiterated that transparency must remain a top priority in all welfare schemes. He instructed officials to make maximum use of information technology to improve efficiency and ensure that benefits reach only genuine and eligible beneficiaries.
Over 24,000 Workers Benefited in One Year
Officials informed that in the past one year, the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has benefited 24,323 workers under various schemes. During this period, a total of approximately ₹93.06 crore was disbursed as financial assistance.
