Four Major Government Schemes to Be Covered Under the Campaign

The Jal-Krishi Samriddhi Abhiyan will cover activities under four major projects and programmes related to watershed development, climate-resilient agriculture and water resource conservation.

These include:

  1. Uttarakhand Climate Resilient Rainfed Agriculture Project: Focused on promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices in rainfed farming areas.
  2. Green-Ag (GEF-6) Project: Aimed at supporting environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
  3. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) – Watershed Component 2.0: Focused on watershed development and the conservation of water and land resources.
  4. Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARA): Focused on activities related to the rejuvenation and conservation of springs and rivers.

Through these initiatives, the department aims to improve water resource management and encourage sustainable agricultural development across rural Uttarakhand.

Campaign Begins in Pithoragarh and Haridwar

The statewide campaign has already been launched in Pithoragarh and Haridwar districts, where awareness programmes and community activities have been organised.

In Pithoragarh, a River Festival was organised in the Yakshwati River area. The programme included public awareness activities, Deepdaan and cultural events to highlight the importance of river conservation and water resource management.

In Haridwar, a programme was organised at Peeli Padao Gram Panchayat to inform villagers about various activities under the rainfed agriculture project. During the programme, rural residents were provided information about direct seeding of rice, biogas plants and other agricultural initiatives.

These activities are intended to familiarise villagers with sustainable farming practices and encourage the adoption of methods that support better resource management.

Uttarakhand Focuses on Community Participation in Water and Agriculture Conservation

The Jal-Krishi Samriddhi Abhiyan is aimed at strengthening the implementation of government schemes while increasing community involvement in the conservation of water and agricultural resources.

By organising awareness programmes, distributing seeds, supporting eligible beneficiaries and engaging with local representatives, the Watershed Department aims to encourage rural communities to actively participate in development activities.

The two-month initiative will cover different rural areas of Uttarakhand and focus on promoting sustainable agriculture, water conservation and the effective utilisation of natural resources.
