Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the two-decade journey of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, describing its evolution from an initiative focused on showcasing Gujarat’s investment potential into a platform for international cooperation, partnerships and global business engagement. The summit began in 2003 and has completed 10 editions.
In a message shared by Vibrant Gujarat, Modi reflected on the changing role of the summit and its growing participation from businesses, startups, MSMEs, cooperatives, financial institutions and international organisations.
From Investment Promotion to Global Partnerships
The Vibrant Gujarat Summit was launched in 2003 with a focus on presenting Gujarat’s economic potential to investors and creating new investment opportunities. Over the years, its scope has expanded beyond investment promotion.
According to the Prime Minister’s message, the summit has developed into a platform where different stakeholders can engage in dialogue, explore partnerships and discuss opportunities linked to growth and development.
The official Vibrant Gujarat website also describes the initiative as having evolved from an investor summit into a platform bringing together governments, businesses, innovators, investors and thought leaders.
This broader role has allowed the summit to connect Gujarat with international business and institutional networks while providing a platform for discussions around emerging economic opportunities.

Ten Editions Mark Two Decades of the Summit
PM Modi noted that 10 editions of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit have already been held, with each edition adding new elements and strengthening the summit’s identity.
The summit’s official platform records its establishment in 2003 and lists 10 successful summit editions. The 2024 edition marked two decades of the initiative and recorded participation from international partners and thousands of delegates.
The journey has also included an expansion in the range of participants. What began primarily as an investment-oriented platform now brings together stakeholders from several parts of the economic and institutional ecosystem.
These include:
- Corporate groups and MSMEs
- Startups and cooperatives
- Multilateral and bilateral organisations
- International financial institutions
- Investors and other business stakeholders
The expanding participation has made the summit a forum for discussions extending beyond conventional investment promotion.
Gujarat’s Development Linked With Global Engagement
The Prime Minister’s message also connects the summit’s evolution with Gujarat’s development journey.
The summit was created to make the world aware of opportunities in Gujarat and encourage investment. Its subsequent editions have increasingly focused on partnerships and international engagement.
The official Vibrant Gujarat platform says the initiative aims to connect global leaders, investors and industry experts to explore opportunities and build partnerships. It also highlights innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable growth among the summit’s broader areas of focus.
This shift reflects the changing nature of investment and economic cooperation, where businesses, governments, financial institutions and startups increasingly interact through broader networks rather than standalone investment events.
Inclusion Becomes Part of the Summit’s Expansion
Another aspect highlighted by Modi is the wider participation of different categories of stakeholders.
The Prime Minister said the summit had become an example of inclusion as corporate groups, cooperatives, MSMEs, startups, international organisations and financial institutions participate in the platform.
This diversity gives businesses and institutions opportunities to interact with one another while allowing different sectors to present their requirements, ideas and potential areas of cooperation.
The emphasis on participation also reflects the summit’s transition from a platform primarily designed to attract investment into a broader forum for dialogue and collaboration.
New Initiatives Across Two Decades
Modi also pointed to the introduction of new initiatives and distinctive features during the summit’s two-decade journey.
The evolution has included a growing focus on new economic sectors, innovation and regional opportunities. The official platform for the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027 describes the next edition as a platform for growth, innovation, global partnerships and investment opportunities.
The 2027 summit is scheduled for January 10–12, 2027, at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar.
The upcoming edition will therefore build on a platform that has already completed 10 editions and two decades of engagement with investors and international partners.
Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027 Next in Focus
The Prime Minister’s latest message comes ahead of the 2027 edition and places the summit’s future role in the context of its past two decades.
The official summit website says the 11th edition will focus on global partnerships, innovation, enterprise and economic opportunities.
For Gujarat, the summit provides a recurring platform to showcase its business ecosystem and connect state-level opportunities with national and international stakeholders. For participating businesses and institutions, it offers a forum to explore partnerships, investment opportunities and emerging sectors.
The two-decade journey therefore represents an expansion in both the scale and scope of the Vibrant Gujarat platform. From its initial focus on attracting investment to a wider emphasis on international cooperation, innovation and partnerships, the summit continues to occupy a central place in Gujarat’s efforts to engage with the global economic ecosystem.
