New Delhi: In a series of administrative decisions issued on Thursday, the government has announced key appointments and movement of senior officers, reflecting ongoing adjustments in top bureaucratic positions.

Vumlunmang Vualnam Given Additional Charge in MCA

Vumlunmang Vualnam (IAS: 1992: MN), currently serving as Secretary, Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

He will hold this additional responsibility from May 1, 2026, to May 10, 2026, during the leave of Deepti Gaur Mukerjee (IAS: 1993: MP), who is the incumbent Secretary in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

Profile: A Seasoned Administrator with Diverse Experience

A senior IAS officer from the Manipur cadre, Vualnam has built an extensive career across multiple sectors in both the Union and State governments.

  • M.A. in Public Policy from O.P. Jindal Global University

He is currently serving as Secretary, Department of Expenditure, having taken charge in April 2025. Prior to this, he served as Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation from September 2023.

With nearly two decades on Central Deputation, his experience spans finance, aviation, health, and home affairs sectors. His appointment as Expenditure Secretary has also been seen as significant, marking representation from the Northeast in key financial administration roles.

Sanjay Sohni Repatriates to DoT Headquarters

In another development, Sanjay Sohni has reported back to his parent cadre at the Department of Telecommunications(DoT) headquarters following his repatriation from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

An officer of the Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS), Sohni previously served as Deputy Director General (DDG) at the UIDAI Regional Office in New Delhi.

Experience in Aadhaar and Telecom Administration

During his tenure at UIDAI, Sohni was involved in administrative and technical leadership, contributing to operations related to Aadhaar—the country’s unique identification system.

  • Current Status: Reported back to DoT HQ
  • Expertise: Telecom administration and Aadhaar-related operations

Routine Administrative Adjustments Continue

These developments are part of routine administrative reshuffles aimed at ensuring continuity in governance and effective functioning of key ministries and departments. The temporary additional charge assigned to Vualnam and the repatriation of Sohni reflect ongoing кадров adjustments within the central bureaucracy.
