Chhindwara: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Anant Samiti, Bhopal, to launch a Moringa-based nutritional supplementation programme for 2,000 Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) and Moderately Acute Malnourished (MAM) children across Anganwadi centres in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh.
The initiative aims to strengthen efforts towards the prevention and reduction of malnutrition by providing targeted nutritional support to identified children and promoting greater awareness about healthy nutrition among families and local communities.
WCL Signs MoU with Anant Samiti for Child Nutrition
The MoU was signed on July 31, 2026, in the presence of Mr. Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & Human Resources), WCL.
The agreement was signed by:
- Mr. Lalit Prakash Tirkey, General Manager (CSR), WCL
- Mr. Sachin Sharma, Secretary, Anant Samiti, Bhopal
Through the partnership, WCL and Anant Samiti will work together to support the nutritional needs of children identified as suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM).
Moringa-Based Nutritional Supplements for 2,000 Children
Under the programme, identified children across Anganwadi centres in Chhindwara district will receive nutritional supplements based on Moringa (Moringa oleifera).
The programme will focus on:
- Providing Moringa-based nutritional supplements to identified SAM and MAM children
- Promoting nutrition awareness among parents and local communities
- Conducting regular monitoring of children’s health and growth
- Coordinating closely with Anganwadi centres and public health systems
The initiative is designed to provide nutritional support while strengthening community-level awareness and monitoring mechanisms for child health.
Programme to Strengthen Malnutrition Prevention Efforts
The collaboration between WCL and Anant Samiti aims to strengthen ongoing efforts to prevent and reduce malnutrition in the region. Regular monitoring of children’s health and growth will help track their progress, while coordination with Anganwadi and public health systems will support a more integrated approach to nutrition and child welfare.
The programme’s focus on parents and local communities is also expected to encourage greater awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and child health.
WCL’s CSR Initiative to Support Community Health
The Moringa-based nutritional supplementation programme is part of WCL’s efforts to contribute to community welfare through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
By focusing on vulnerable children and working with local Anganwadi and public health systems, the initiative seeks to improve nutritional outcomes and support healthier growth and development among children in Chhindwara district.
