WCL Partners with IIM Nagpur to Train 75 Executives Through Leadership Development Programme

Nagpur: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIM Nagpur to strengthen leadership capabilities among its middle and senior-level executives during the Financial Year 2026–27.

Under the partnership, 75 WCL executives will participate in a customized residential Leadership Development Programme designed to enhance leadership skills, strategic thinking, decision-making abilities, and managerial effectiveness.

The initiative aims to build a future-ready leadership team capable of addressing evolving business challenges and supporting WCL’s long-term growth objectives.

WCL Signs MoU with IIM Nagpur for Executive Leadership Training

Western Coalfields Limited has partnered with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur to develop leadership capabilities among its workforce.

As part of the collaboration, WCL executives will undergo a specially designed residential programme focused on improving professional skills and leadership competencies.

The programme will be conducted in three batches and will cover key areas including:

  • Leadership development
  • Strategic thinking
  • Effective decision-making
  • Managerial excellence
  • Organizational leadership skills

The training is expected to help executives improve their ability to manage complex business situations and contribute more effectively to the organization.

MoU Signing Ceremony Held with Senior Officials Present

The MoU was signed in the presence of senior officials from both WCL and IIM Nagpur.

The key officials present during the ceremony included:

  • Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, CMD, WCL
  • Mr. Bikram Ghosh, Director (Finance & HR), WCL
  • Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM Nagpur

The agreement was signed by:

  • Mr. M. K. Gupta, GM (E&M/HRD), WCL, on behalf of WCL
  • Dr. Alok Kumar Singh on behalf of IIM Nagpur

Several senior representatives from both organizations also attended the event.

Leadership Programme to Build Future-Ready Executives

The collaboration highlights WCL’s focus on developing its human resources and strengthening its leadership pipeline.

Through this programme, the company aims to create executives who can effectively respond to changing industry requirements and emerging challenges.
