Kolkata: The West Bengal government has transferred six IAS officers in a fresh administrative reshuffle, assigning new responsibilities across key departments including Agricultural Marketing, Food Processing Industries and Horticulture, Correctional Administration, Consumer Affairs and Disaster Management.
Among the key changes, Abhinav Chandra (IAS: 2001: WB) has been appointed Secretary, Agricultural Marketing Department, after serving as Additional Director General, NSATI.
The latest reshuffle also involves senior officers from the 2002, 2005, 2006, 2011 and 2014 batches of the West Bengal cadre.
Abhinav Chandra Gets Agricultural Marketing Department
Abhinav Chandra (IAS: 2001: WB) has been transferred from his position as Additional Director General, NSATIand appointed Secretary, Agricultural Marketing Department.
The posting places the senior IAS officer in charge of a department dealing with important aspects of agricultural marketing and related administrative functions in the state.
Smaraki Mahapatra Shifted to Food Processing and Horticulture
Smaraki Mahapatra (IAS: 2002: WB) has been transferred from her position as Secretary, Correctional Administration Department.
She has now been appointed Secretary, Food Processing Industries & Horticulture Department.
The move shifts Mahapatra from the correctional administration portfolio to a department focused on food processing and horticulture-related activities.
Vijay Bharti Gets Correctional Department
Vijay Bharti (IAS: 2005: WB) has been shifted from the Science & Technology and Biotechnology Department, where he was serving as Secretary.
He has now been appointed Secretary, Correctional Department.
The posting comes as part of the changes made following Smaraki Mahapatra’s transfer from the correctional administration portfolio.
Rashmi Kamal Appointed Consumer Affairs Secretary
Rashmi Kamal (IAS: 2006: WB), who was serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department, while awaiting posting, has now been appointed Secretary, Consumer Affairs Department.
The new assignment brings her back into an active departmental role after being listed as awaiting posting.
Sasim Kumar Barai Gets Disaster Management Charge
Sasim Kumar Barai (IAS: 2011: WB) has been transferred from the post of Senior Special Secretary, Environment Department.
He has now been appointed Senior Special Secretary, Disaster Management & Civil Defence Department.
The move gives Barai a key role in the state’s disaster management and civil defence administration.
Santanu Mukherjee Appointed Additional Director, NSATI
Santanu Mukherjee (IAS: 2014: WB), who was serving as OSD, Personnel & Administrative Reforms Department and was awaiting posting, has been appointed Additional Director, NSATI.
He takes up the position previously held by Abhinav Chandra, who has now moved to the Agricultural Marketing Department as Secretary.
