Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure all development projects in Gorakhpur are completed within deadlines and without compromising on quality. Chairing a review meeting at Annex Bhawan on Sunday, he instructed that a nodal officer be appointed for each project to monitor progress regularly. He further stressed that negligence by contractors or officials would invite strict action, and accountability would be fixed at every level.
Major Projects to be Expedited
The Chief Minister reviewed key projects including the PAC Mahila Battalion, Khajanchi Bazar, Padri Bazar, Bargadwa, Gorakhnath, Padleganj–Nausadh Flyover, and Bhopa Bazar Overbridge. He asked officers to expedite work and ensure time-bound completion. Highlighting Gorakhpur’s new identity as a growing smart city, he directed smooth traffic management through joint efforts of municipal bodies and traffic police, stressing removal of encroachments and systematic rehabilitation of street vendors.
Health Initiatives and Vigilance
Mr. Yogi Adityanath underlined that while encephalitis (JE and AES), once a curse for Purvanchal, is now under control, strict vigilance remains vital. He called for awareness and cleanliness drives to check dengue and seasonal diseases, backed by intensive publicity campaigns in all municipal bodies. He also directed officials to take strict action against the “ambulance mafia” and middlemen in healthcare.
Education and Child Welfare
Emphasizing the importance of discipline in schools, the Chief Minister said that funds transferred to parents for uniforms, shoes, bags, and socks under council schools must be used strictly for that purpose. He directed schools to ensure that students attend in proper uniforms. Appreciating the “Bal Vatika” initiative for pre-school children, he urged public representatives to take part in its promotion. Reviewing “Project Alankar” for secondary schools, he again emphasized quality in construction.
Infrastructure and Civic Development
On the ambitious Godhdoiya Nala project to resolve waterlogging, Mr. Adityanath instructed faster execution and alternative arrangements in case of rain disruptions. Reviewing the STP construction under the Amrit Yojana, he said that post-construction maintenance is equally important, and mandated that firms be bound by a 10-year maintenance clause in contracts.
The Chief Minister’s directives aim to accelerate Gorakhpur’s transformation into a modern, well-managed, and progressive city with robust infrastructure, strong health initiatives, and quality education.
