Kushinagar: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has gifted a major development package to Kushinagar with the inauguration and foundation stone laying of 464 development projects worth around ₹525 crore across Kushinagar Sadar, Ramkola and Hata assembly constituencies.
Addressing a large public gathering on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s focus on infrastructure development, healthcare, education, tourism, agriculture and employment generation while also launching a political attack on the opposition.
Kushinagar Gets Development Projects Worth ₹525 Crore
The projects launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are aimed at improving public facilities, strengthening connectivity and accelerating economic growth in Kushinagar district.
The constituency-wise distribution of projects includes:
- Kushinagar Sadar: 197 projects worth ₹251 crore
- Ramkola: 122 projects worth ₹112 crore
- Hata: 145 projects worth ₹161 crore
The Chief Minister said these projects will improve basic amenities and provide new opportunities for residents.

Yogi Highlights Transformation of Kushinagar
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi said that Kushinagar was earlier known for challenges such as encephalitis outbreaks, poverty and migration. He said that due to improved healthcare facilities and government initiatives, the deadly disease has now been brought under control.
He also highlighted welfare measures for the Musahar community, saying that families who were earlier deprived of basic facilities are now receiving benefits such as:
- Permanent houses
- Land and housing rights
- Free ration
- Electricity connections
- LPG connections
The Chief Minister said these efforts have helped bring weaker sections into the mainstream of development.
Focus on Law and Order and Social Welfare
CM Yogi said Uttar Pradesh has moved beyond the era of unrest and curfews, allowing people from all communities to celebrate festivals peacefully.
He also announced enhanced healthcare support for education sector employees. Under the new facility, primary and secondary school teachers, education workers, instructors and cooks will receive:
- Cashless medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh annually
- Accident insurance benefits
The initiative aims to provide greater social security to education workers across the state.
Kushinagar Airport and Connectivity Projects to Boost Growth
The Chief Minister said connectivity infrastructure in Kushinagar is being expanded rapidly.
The upcoming plans include connecting Kushinagar International Airport with Jewar Airport and Gaya, which is expected to improve tourism and business opportunities.
He also highlighted the construction of a new bridge over the Narayani River in Khadda area at a cost of around ₹800 crore, along with road expansion projects to strengthen trade connectivity.
Agriculture and Education Receive Major Boost
CM Yogi said the establishment of Mahatma Buddha Agriculture and Technology University in Kushinagar will provide better higher education opportunities for local youth.
The government is also setting up a modern laboratory to promote banana cultivation, which will help farmers improve production, processing and market access.
Kushinagar’s agricultural economy, based on crops such as:
- Sugarcane
- Banana
- Paddy
- Vegetables
is being supported through various government initiatives.
ODOP Scheme and Sugar Mill Modernisation Benefit Farmers
Under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, Kushinagar has been selected for banana-based products, helping local producers access wider markets.
The district’s four sugar mills have also been modernised and their crushing capacity has been increased, providing direct benefits to sugarcane farmers.
Around 6.72 lakh farmers of Kushinagar are receiving financial assistance under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

Healthcare and Tourism Development Accelerated
The Chief Minister highlighted the expansion of healthcare infrastructure in the district, including the launch of a new government medical college.
He said the operationalisation of Kushinagar International Airport has improved access for foreign tourists visiting the Buddhist pilgrimage destination.
The organisation of the International Buddhist Conclave in March-April 2026 further strengthened Kushinagar’s global identity as a major Buddhist tourism centre.
Development work is also underway around:
- Ramabhar Stupa
- Buddhist Ghat
- Hiranyavati River banks
to enhance tourism facilities.
Employment Opportunities for Women and Youth
The government highlighted employment and livelihood initiatives being implemented in the district.
Under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM):
- 18,938 self-help groups have been formed
- 2,08,858 women have been connected with livelihood opportunities
Under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme, 550 youths have received support for self-employment.
During the event, financial assistance was provided to beneficiaries including:
- Women associated with self-help groups
- Youth entrepreneurs
- Farmers
- Small business beneficiaries
Benefits Distributed to Beneficiaries During Event
Several beneficiaries received direct support during the programme.
Key assistance included:
- Housing scheme cheques to Asha Devi and Sanju
- Livelihood assistance to women including Lalti Devi, Sunaina Devi, Kiran Upadhyay, Parmavati Devi and Sehrunnisa
- Modern agricultural equipment support to farmer Raju Prajapati
- Financial assistance under Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign to Suraj Kumar Yadav
- Sewing machine support to Narvada Devi
- Farmer Credit Cards to Fanish and Akhilesh
CM Yogi also honoured two senior party workers — 110-year-old Ram Vilas Bhagat and 104-year-old Ram Prasad Sahani — for their long-standing commitment.
Kushinagar Emerging as Eastern Uttar Pradesh Growth Centre
The Uttar Pradesh government said Kushinagar is developing as a new growth centre of eastern Uttar Pradesh by combining heritage conservation with modern infrastructure. The district’s progress in tourism, agriculture, healthcare, education and employment is expected to strengthen its economic potential and improve quality of life for residents.
The programme was attended by Cabinet Minister Dara Singh Chauhan, Rajya Sabha MP RPN Singh, MP Vijay Dubey, actor-turned-politician Ravi Kishan, legislators and senior administrative officials.
