Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a series of major welfare initiatives for teachers, education department employees and students from Varanasi.

The initiatives include the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana, which will provide cashless medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh, and a life term insurance cover of up to ₹1 crore for teachers, Shiksha Mitras and instructors, with the entire premium to be paid by the state government.

The announcements were made during a programme held at the Pandit Deendayal Hastkala Sankul in Varanasi.

Cashless Medical Scheme to Benefit 12 Lakh Education Employees

Under the newly launched Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana, around 12 lakh teachers, Shiksha Mitras, instructors and education department employees along with their dependents will receive health security benefits.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath symbolically distributed health scheme cards to 15 teachers during the launch event, marking the beginning of the scheme’s implementation across Uttar Pradesh.

Eligible beneficiaries will be able to receive treatment at empanelled hospitals without making cash payments during medical emergencies.

The government aims to ensure that teachers and education employees do not face financial difficulties while accessing healthcare services.

Teachers to Receive ₹1 Crore Life Term Insurance Cover

In another major announcement, CM Yogi Adityanath stated that Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to provide life term insurance coverage of up to ₹1 crore for teachers, Shiksha Mitras and instructors.

The key feature of this insurance scheme is that the entire premium will be paid by the state government.

The initiative is expected to provide stronger financial security to thousands of education employees and their families.

₹1,200 DBT Support Released for 1.10 Crore Students

During the programme, the Chief Minister also released financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of parents of around 1.10 crore students across Uttar Pradesh.

Each eligible student’s family received ₹1,200 directly into their bank account.

The financial assistance will help parents purchase essential educational items, including:

  • School uniforms
  • Shoes and socks
  • Sweaters
  • School bags
  • Books
  • Stationery items

The DBT system ensures transparency and allows benefits to reach eligible families directly without intermediaries.

CM Yogi Highlights Importance of Teachers in Nation Building

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath said that teachers are one of the most important pillars of society and play a key role in shaping the future of students.

He stated that a strong education system requires not only better schools but also the social and economic empowerment of teachers and education employees.

The Chief Minister said that ensuring teachers’ health and financial security will help them work more effectively and contribute towards improving education quality.

Government Focuses on Teacher Welfare and Education Reforms

CM Yogi said the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously working to strengthen the education system through various initiatives.

These include:

  • Improvement of school infrastructure
  • Smart classrooms
  • Digital education
  • Book distribution programmes
  • Student welfare schemes
  • Teacher support initiatives

He emphasized that teachers working in a secure and respectful environment can better guide students towards a brighter future.

Benefits to Reach Teachers and Employees Across Uttar Pradesh

According to the state government, both the cashless medical scheme and insurance facility will be implemented across Uttar Pradesh.

The concerned departments have been directed to ensure smooth execution of the schemes.

The government will also expand the network of empanelled hospitals so that beneficiaries across districts can easily access healthcare facilities.

SBI Signs MoU for Social Security Coverage of Education Workers

During the event, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between the Basic Education Department and State Bank of India to provide social security benefits to around 10 lakh teachers and contractual employees.

The initiative aims to strengthen financial protection for education workers across the state.

Clean and Green School Principals Honoured

The programme also included the felicitation of principals and headmasters of schools selected at the national level for cleanliness and environmental initiatives.

New training resources and education-related initiatives were also highlighted during the event.

Education Employees Welcome New Welfare Measures

Teachers, Shiksha Mitras and education department employees welcomed the announcements, stating that health security and insurance benefits were long-awaited measures.

They said that cashless treatment facilities and life insurance coverage would provide greater confidence and financial protection for their families.

Uttar Pradesh Strengthens Education and Social Security Framework

The welfare measures announced from Varanasi represent a major step towards strengthening the education sector in Uttar Pradesh.

While teachers and education employees will receive enhanced health and financial security, millions of students will benefit from direct financial assistance for educational needs.

The government believes that these initiatives will improve teacher morale, support students from economically weaker backgrounds and contribute to building a stronger education system in the state.
