2019 batch IPS officer Vaibhav Banker’s journey from aspirant to becoming an IPS is very inspiring. He is posted in Durg of Chhattisgarh. A video of him, in which he talks about his result day, is going viral.

Vaibhav says in this video, ‘We were four or five friends sitting and drinking tea, then one friend called that the result is coming. I asked my friends to post the picture on the notice board but they didn’t send it. Then I got the PDF. My friends were very excited about what would happen. I told them to give me space, give me some time. I went away from them a little and opened the PDF alone. I just typed my surname in it, I was feeling very nervous that if I would get zero results, then what? It was written on the upper side, one result found. It was the best thing in my life.’

He further said, ‘I did not see the rank, nor did I see my name, I shouted loudly to my friends… Yaar Ho Gaya (We have done it.). And he was very happy about it. I went to them and they picked me up. Then after five minutes he asked what is the rank. Before that, I saw the rank about him, which was 616.’

Narrating the story of his struggle, Vaibhav Banker said that his journey started in the last year of college. A friend of his influenced him greatly. He said that he had come to Delhi to prepare and had come thinking that if it happened, he would not get a job in the IT sector. He said that he failed the exam for the first time in the prelims. He stayed in Delhi for one and a half years. Then he came to his native Ahmedabad and started his preparation here.

He said that he passed the exam in the fifth attempt. During its preparation, he was also giving other exams, out of which he passed seven. The banker said that no one knows when his exam will be cleared, but he has to give 100 percent every time, no matter what the attempt is. Never stop preparing, just keep going. He says that the strategy should be strong to pass the exam and the entire paper should be attempted.
