Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the Chhattisgarh Cement Transport Welfare Association’s Diwali Milan function held at a private hotel in Raipur today. The event celebrated the festival of lights with needy disabled children, reflecting the state government’s commitment to their empowerment and holistic development.
Intimate Meeting with Disabled Children
During the function, Mr. Sai interacted warmly with children from Kompalvani and Arpan Divyang Sanstha, wishing them a Happy Diwali. The children gave a vibrant performance in sign language, and the Chief Minister himself learned phrases such as “Good Morning” and “Good Afternoon” in sign language, demonstrating inclusivity and respect for the differently-abled community.
Announcement of Divyang Park
Highlighting the government’s developmental initiatives for the disabled, Mr. Sai announced that, as promised by Union Social Justice Minister Dr. Virendra Khatik, a fully equipped park for persons with disabilities will be constructed on five acres of land in Raipur. The state is also actively implementing schemes for prosthetic limbs, employment opportunities, and financial assistance through loans to enhance the independence and welfare of disabled citizens.
Appreciation for Civic Engagement
Mr. Sai commended the Chhattisgarh Cement Transport Welfare Association for its exemplary public service, noting past initiatives such as providing ambulances for patients, which have positively impacted numerous lives.
Vision for a Developed Chhattisgarh
Marking Chhattisgarh’s silver jubilee year, the Chief Minister shared that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the State Festival. He emphasized that the state government has prepared a vision document for a developed Chhattisgarh, contributing to the broader goal of a prosperous India by 2047 through collective effort and cooperation.

Former Governor Shri Ramesh Bais highlighted that after the passage of the Disability Bill, facilities for the disabled have increased threefold. Forest Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap noted that recent GST reductions have enhanced the festive experience, while Revenue Minister Mr. Tankaram Verma and Skill Development Minister Mr. Guru Khuswant Saheb also praised the inclusive celebrations.
Respect for Talent and Encouragement
Disabled artist Mr. Gokarna Patil, who paints using his feet, showcased his remarkable talent to the Chief Minister. Mr. Sai appreciated his artistic skills, encouraged his pursuits, and distributed warm clothes to the children, reinforcing the government’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting inclusivity.
