Patna: In a high-level review meeting held in Patna, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced a comprehensive plan to boost eco-tourism across the state. The initiative focuses on developing accessible and efficient tourism infrastructure while promoting Bihar as a key destination for nature, culture, and heritage tourism.

The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare an effective roadmap to improve tourism facilities and ensure faster implementation of projects across the state.

Tourism Infrastructure to Be Developed Around Water Bodies

A major highlight of the plan is the development of tourism infrastructure around all government-owned water bodies in Bihar. The government aims to create well-equipped spaces for visitors, including seating areas, walking zones, and leisure facilities.

To speed up implementation, the state will adopt a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, allowing both government and private players to collaborate in building and managing tourism sites efficiently.

Multi-Department Collaboration for Faster Implementation

The eco-tourism initiative will be executed through coordinated efforts of multiple departments, including Environment, Water Resources, Tourism, Urban Development, and Panchayati Raj.

During the meeting, officials presented their respective plans, while the Chief Minister emphasized the need for strong coordination among departments to avoid delays and ensure smooth execution of projects.

Integration of Religious and Historical Sites into Eco-Tourism

The government has also decided to expand the scope of eco-tourism beyond natural sites. Bihar’s religious, cultural, and historical destinations will be integrated into the tourism framework.

This approach is expected to offer tourists a diverse experience within a single state, combining spirituality, heritage, and natural beauty.

Special Tour Packages for Tourists and Officials

To attract more visitors, the state government is planning to introduce special tourism packages in the near future. These packages will highlight key destinations across Bihar and make travel planning easier for tourists.

Additionally, a two-day tour package is being prepared for public representatives and government officials so they can personally visit and promote tourism sites across the state.

Focus on Wetlands, Dams, and Hill Regions

The eco-tourism plan also includes the development of wetlands in low-lying areas, turning them into organized tourist spots with proper facilities.

Tourism infrastructure will also be developed around dams under the PPP model. In addition, the government plans to build helipads in hilly regions to improve accessibility and encourage tourist inflow.

Large-scale plantation drives will also be undertaken around lakes and reservoirs to improve environmental conditions and generate employment opportunities for local communities.

Bihar Aims to Become a National Tourism Hub

The Bihar government’s long-term vision is to position the state as a major tourism hub on both national and international platforms. By combining eco-tourism, religious tourism, and cultural heritage, the state aims to strengthen its identity as a diverse and attractive travel destination.

Officials stated that work is already underway to accelerate tourism development and unlock new economic opportunities through sustainable and inclusive growth.
