The trials were conducted at the Mahajan Field Firing Range (MFFR). According to the company, the system successfully demonstrated the required operational performance and electronic counter-countermeasure compliance.
The Indian Army witnessed the system’s performance during the trials. This development represents an important milestone for the company and India’s indigenous defence manufacturing sector.
What are the Features of Nagastra 2
Nagastra 2 is designed as an anti-tank loitering munition system. It is intended to support the Indian Army in operations involving armoured targets.
According to the company, the system features a 4 kg tandem shaped-charge warhead. It is designed to penetrate up to 650 mm of rolled homogeneous armour (RHA). The system also includes day-and-night surveillance cameras. These features are intended to support its surveillance and precision engagement capabilities.
Nagastra 2 Range And Flight Endurance
The Nagastra 2 system offers different operating modes to support different mission requirements.
According to the company, it has an operational range of 25 kilometres in recover-and-reuse mode. Its range in fire-and-forget mode is reported to be up to 50 kilometres. The system also has an endurance of up to 60 minutes. These capabilities provide operational flexibility for the Indian Army.
Electronic Counter-Countermeasures Capability
One of the important features of Nagastra 2 is its Electronic Counter-Countermeasures (ECCM) capability.
This technology is designed to improve the system’s ability to operate in electronic warfare environments. Such environments can involve communication interference and satellite navigation disruptions.
The company says the system is designed to improve resilience against communication jamming, GPS jamming and GPS spoofing.
This capability is important because modern military operations increasingly involve electronic warfare and disruptions to communication and navigation systems.
Indian Army Previously Ordered Nagastra 1R
Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd. also has experience supplying loitering munition systems to the Indian Army.
In 2025, the Indian Army placed an order for approximately 450 Nagastra 1R loitering munitions, according to the company’s statement.
Nagastra 1R is designed with reusable launcher equipment. The system features a camera mounted on a 360-degree gimbal and can support the integration of a thermal camera for night operations. The company has also stated that Nagastra 1R contains more than 80 per cent indigenous content.
It uses proprietary encryption for video and telemetry communication. The system has a reported circular error probable (CEP) of 2 metres, according to the company’s information.
