Ranchi: The three-day “MP Cultural Festival-cum-Swadeshi Mela 2026” was inaugurated at Audrey House in the presence of Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth also attended the event.
The grand events highlights Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage, indigenous products, and the talent of local artisans and youth.
Swadeshi as a Symbol of Identity and Self-Reliance
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized that swadeshi is not just about products but represents identity, tradition, and self-reliance. He said promoting locally made goods is essential to strengthening the economy and preserving cultural roots.
He added that India’s diversity—reflected in its communities, traditions, and craftsmanship—forms a strong foundation for national growth.

Recalling the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, Hemant Soren said that the concept of swadeshi has long been a guiding principle for self-reliance in India. He stressed that promoting locally produced goods remains a shared responsibility.
The event, he said, serves as a powerful platform for artisans, handicraft workers, and small entrepreneurs to showcase their skills and products.
Showcasing Jharkhand’s Rich Art and Craft
The mela features a wide range of handmade products, including textiles, jewelry, decorative items, and goods made from soil and bamboo. Artisans from different parts of Jharkhand have set up stalls to display their craftsmanship.
The Governor and Chief Minister visited various exhibition stalls, interacted with artisans, and appreciated their work.
Youth Talent Adds to State’s Strength
Highlighting the role of youth, the Chief Minister said Jharkhand’s young population continues to excel in education, sports, and cultural fields despite limited resources. Their achievements at national platforms are a matter of pride for the state.
He also pointed out that even students from government schools are making remarkable progress, further strengthening Jharkhand’s identity.

The dignitaries were welcomed with vibrant folk dances and traditional music performances by local artists, reflecting the state’s rich cultural diversity.
