New Delhi: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) Director (Finance & HR) Bikram Ghosh participated as a lead panellist at the National Conference & Exhibition on Corporate Social Responsibility (NCCSR) 2026 in New Delhi, highlighting the company’s community-focused approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
During the panel discussion, Ghosh emphasised that CSR should go beyond being treated as a statutory obligation and instead be viewed as “Collective Social Commitment”, with organisations working closely with communities and local stakeholders to address their needs.
Bikram Ghosh Highlights WCL’s CSR Approach at NCCSR 2026
Ghosh represented WCL at NCCSR 2026, organised by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.
The conference brought together CSR leaders, policymakers, industry representatives and other stakeholders to discuss approaches to responsible and sustainable community development.
During the discussion, Ghosh shared insights into WCL’s CSR initiatives and its efforts to create meaningful and long-term benefits for communities located around its operational areas.

Speaking during the panel discussion, Ghosh said “CSR should be termed as Collective Social Commitment.”
He stressed that CSR should not be viewed merely as a statutory requirement. Instead, organisations should work collectively with communities and local stakeholders to understand and address their actual needs.
The approach is particularly important for areas surrounding mining operations, where community-focused interventions can contribute to long-term regional development.
