Born on January 3, 1996, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, IPS Anshika Verma has emerged as an inspiration for UPSC aspirants across the country. Raised in a supportive family, her father, Anil Verma, is a retired employee of the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Corporation Limited, while her mother is a homemaker. From an early age, Anshika exhibited strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which she honed during her academic years.

She completed her schooling in Noida and later pursued a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Galgotia College of Engineering and Technology in 2018. Despite having a technical background, her passion for public service motivated her to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

CRACKING THE UPSC

Anshika began her UPSC preparation in 2018, determined to contribute to society through law enforcement. In her first attempt, she faced setbacks but remained undeterred. Without enrolling in any coaching institute, she adopted a rigorous self-study approach, refining her strategies and strengthening her command over the subjects. Her dedication paid off when she cleared the UPSC CSE in her second attempt in 2020, securing an impressive All India Rank of 136.

RISING THROUGH THE RANKS

Anshika joined the Indian Police Service in 2021 and was allocated the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Her first posting was as Station House Officer (SHO) at Fatehpur Sikri police station in Agra, where she exhibited strong leadership skills. Soon after, she was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police in Gorakhpur on December 18, 2023.

During her tenure as ASP, she played a crucial role in tackling high-profile cases, including the busting of fake stamp networks and money mule operations. Her sharp investigative skills and commitment to justice earned her accolades from both her peers and the public. Recognizing her exemplary service, the Uttar Pradesh Police awarded her the prestigious DGP Commendation Disc (Silver) on Independence Day.

THE PROMOTION TO SP OF BAREILLY SOUTH

Owing to her outstanding contributions in Gorakhpur, Anshika Verma was recently promoted to the esteemed position of Superintendent of Police of Bareilly South. Her promotion reflects not only her investigative acumen but also her ability to handle complex law enforcement challenges with efficiency.

At her farewell ceremony in Gorakhpur, colleagues and senior officials praised her remarkable leadership and dedication. As SP of Bareilly South, she is expected to bring the same level of commitment and effectiveness in maintaining law and order in the region.

A ROLE MODEL FOR ASPIRANTS

Anshika Verma’s journey is an inspiring example for UPSC aspirants. She demonstrated that success is not solely dependent on external coaching but rather on self-discipline and strategic preparation. Her story is particularly motivating for candidates who may lack access to expensive coaching institutes, proving that hard work and self-belief can lead to success.

Her social media presence further amplifies her role as an influencer in the civil services community. Through Instagram and Twitter, she shares motivational insights, career advice, and glimpses into her life as an IPS officer, inspiring thousands of followers.

THE ROAD AHEAD

As she takes on her new role as SP of Bareilly South, expectations are high. With her systematic approach to law enforcement, strategic case handling, and people-centric leadership, Anshika Verma is set to make significant contributions in her new jurisdiction. In the years to come, IPS Anshika Verma is likely to continue making a meaningful impact in law enforcement, setting new benchmarks for young officers and aspiring civil servants alike.
