Indian Masterminds Stories

West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand, which was carved out of the Singhbhum district in 1990, is one of the oldest and largest district of the state. Not only this, but West Singhbhum is covered with hills alternating with valleys, steep mountains, and deep forests on the mountain slopes. While having such natural landscapes and other beautiful places, one would love to visit it as it doubles the traveler’s pleasure.

However, such places which carry its own beauty and purpose were never exposed to a larger audience than it can actually cater. For this, the current Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Ananya Mittal, has taken some steps to boost tourism which will further help in building a good economy in the district.

PROMOTING TOURISM SPOTS

While speaking to Indian Masterminds, Mr. Ananya Mittal said, “Under the Aao, Dekhe Chaibasa (Come, See Chaibasa) campaign, we are identifying/tracing beautiful natural landscape spots and are showcasing them from a tourism perspective.”

NATURAL LANDSCAPES IN CHAIBASA

Chaibasa, which is the district headquarter of West Singhbhum district, has different places for different purposes. Each place carries its own uniqueness and is hence traced by the district administration for promoting tourism.

The Bhagha Billa Valley in the Chaibasa-Bharbharia-Kumadungi road of West Singhbhum district, is one such patch of the district which is selected for attracting tourists. This area is located at a distance of 197 km from Jharkhand state capital Ranchi and 41 KM from Chaibasa. Its curved roads and surrounding natural landscape make it unique and attractive.

Due to the Naxal activities prevailing in the area for decades, it was out of reach for the common people. However, now it is becoming an example for the tourism sector.

Kiriburu sunset point

Similarly, the Hirni falls which fall from a pass of about 37 meters of the Ramgarh River is another selling point for tourism in the district. Not only this, but the Kiriburu sunset point, Nakti dam, Rungta garden, Sangam River, Sahidsthal situated in Serengsia valley of Tonto block of West Singhbhum district, Ho traditional village and Kera temple are among the nine locations which are being promoted as a tourist hub in Chaibasa.

Talking about its advantages, Mr. Mittal said, “The local people in these areas will get involved in the economy as the tourists will increase. Apart from this, these places which are not yet that popular can be showcased on the map of the country as well as the state. Further, our main interest would be to drive economy at these locations so as to benefit the local people.”
