DM’s Initiative in Chhattarpur: Free Coaching for Civil Services Aspirants

Indian Masterminds Stories

CSR Fund, I.e. Corporate Social Responsibility Fund, can also be  called ‘the responsibility of the companies towards the society.’ With the efforts of the DM of Chhattarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Sheelendra Singh, this fund is being utilized by private companies of the region so well that everyone is appreciating it.

In his initiative, 50 promising students of the district will receive free coaching for the preparation of civil services and other competitive examinations. A leading coaching institute of the region, which is famous for the preparation of civil services, is going to start ‘Super-50’ initiative on the lines of Super-30. As a result of the efforts of Mr. Singh, the institute is implementing this scheme under CSR fund. About 2100 gave the exam for it, out of which only 50 will be selected. The initiative has been named ‘Prayatn’.

‘PRAYATN’ SUPER 50 IDEA

Talking to Indian Masterminds, Mr. Singh says, “There are many students in this area who are very good in studies but they cannot go to Delhi or anywhere else for preparation due to financial constraints. That’s why we roped in this company for this initiative. Earlier they wanted to spend their funds in the medical field, but we persuaded them to pay attention to those poor students. It was not an easy task but we put in all our efforts and succeeded.”

Further, the officer states, “This initiative will not only provide a platform to the students, but will also give them a belief that they too can do something big. Their entire education will be free of cost. However, they will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation. Out of 3000 students who had applied,2100 students gave the exam. Out of these, 50 will be selected and they will be given free coaching by skilled and experienced teachers.”

EXAMINATION AND SELECTION

On Sunday, 29th August, the examination was conducted at 10 AM, for the selection of 50 students from five schools of Rajnagar, Naugaon, Chhatarpur, Lavkushnagar and Bijawar areas in the Chhatarpur district. This written test consisted of an objective screening test of 100 questions. The exam was in both English and Hindi. For this, the registration process was going on for the last one month and the syllabus of the examination was also being shared. Now the selected students will be given the facility of training to make them better administrators and achieve their goals. Hybrid model (online and offline) will also be arranged in Chhatarpur for better classroom experience.

Mr. Singh says that we did not expect so many candidates to appear for the exam. “It was a dream for me to provide free coaching for civil services and other competitive exams to economically weaker students,’’ he held.

In Chhatarpur, most students here come from rural and semi-urban areas, mainly from government and aided schools. This platform will give them a fresh chance to rework their plans. With the efforts of the officer, a library has also been built for the guidance of the youth of rural areas in Mausaniya Gram Panchayat of Naugaon town, under ‘PraytnaPahal’ project of the administration.
