REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has transferred Vizag Power Transmission Limited, a project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to Adani Energy Solutions Limited.

The SPV was handed over on August 14, 2026, after Adani Energy Solutions emerged as the successful bidder in the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, which served as the Bid Process Coordinator.

Adani Energy Solutions Wins Andhra Pradesh Transmission Project

The company has been selected to develop the “Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen / Green Ammonia Projects in Vizag Area, Andhra Pradesh (Phase-I)”.

The project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis and is aimed at strengthening the transmission network required for upcoming green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag region.

Rajkumar Sonkar, HoD (CS), RECPDCL, formally handed over the SPV to Shashank Sharma, CBDO, Adani Energy Solutions Limited. Ratnesh Kumar, GM (Engineering), along with senior officials from RECPDCL, Adani Energy Solutions and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited, were also present.

Two Major 765 kV Substations Planned

The transmission system will include the construction of two major substations in Andhra Pradesh.

The project provides for a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Pendurthi GIS substation and a 3×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV Khammam-II substation. Several high-voltage transmission lines and related infrastructure will also be developed as part of the project.

The planned network includes 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting Pendurthi with Srikakulam over 226 km, Khammam-II with Warangal New over 153 km, and Khammam-II with Pendurthi over 338 km.

In addition, a 400 kV double-circuit line will connect the Khammam-II substation with the existing Khammam substation over a distance of around 60 km.

₹8,386 Crore Project to Be Completed in 30 Months

The overall transmission project has an estimated investment of ₹8,386 crore. According to the planned schedule, the project is expected to be completed within 30 months.

With the transfer of the SPV, Adani Energy Solutions will now undertake the development of the transmission system under the awarded project. The infrastructure is expected to support power transmission requirements linked to proposed green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag area.
