Dhanbad: Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) CMD Manoj Kumar Agrawal on Thursday inspected major mining projects in the Sijua area, reviewing operational preparedness and directing officials to maximise coal production, improve machinery utilisation and accelerate coal dispatch.
During the inspection, Agrawal visited Amalgamated Sendra Bansjoda Nichitpur Colliery and Mudidih Colliery. He assessed the progress of departmental and higher mining operations and issued directions to officials to improve operational efficiency.
The inspection focused on making optimum use of available mining capacity, ensuring adequate transportation arrangements and expediting coal dispatch.
BCCL CMD Reviews Machinery Utilisation and Dewatering
Emphasising the need for better utilisation of mining equipment, the CMD directed officials to maximise the deployment of departmental and contractual machinery to strengthen coal production and dispatch.
He also reviewed several key operational areas, including:
- Drainage systems
- Pumping capacity and pump availability
- Mine lighting
- Security arrangements
- Transportation infrastructure
- Coal dispatch performance
- Power supply systems
- Machinery maintenance
Agrawal stressed that transportation capacity should remain aligned with production levels to ensure the timely evacuation of coal and prevent stock accumulation.
He also directed officials to improve maintenance planning, enhance pump availability and expedite dewatering operations.
Patch-C Production Restart Gets Priority
A key focus of the inspection was the early resumption of coal production from Patch-C.
The CMD directed officials to accelerate dewatering work and strengthen pumping arrangements to remove operational constraints and facilitate the restart of production.
The resumption of operations at Patch-C is expected to add to the available production capacity of the Sijua area.
Agrawal also called for regular monitoring of critical equipment, improved machinery utilisation and closer coordination among the mining, excavation, electrical, pumping and transportation departments.
Focus on Coal Production, Transportation and Dispatch
During the inspection, the CMD emphasised the need to maximise available production capacity while maintaining efficient coal evacuation.
Officials were directed to ensure that transportation arrangements are adequate to handle the production levels and that coal dispatch is not affected by operational bottlenecks.
The focus on machinery deployment, dewatering, transportation and dispatch is aimed at improving overall productivity across the inspected mining projects.
Senior Officials Accompany BCCL CMD
Senior officials accompanied the CMD during the inspection, including the General Managers of Electrical and Mechanical, Excavation and Sijua areas, along with the Junior General Manager, Project Officer, Heads of Departments and other officials from Sijua and Coal Bhawan headquarters.
The officials reviewed operational issues at the mining projects and discussed measures to improve production and dispatch performance.
BCCL Focuses on Unlocking Mining Capacity
The inspection underlines BCCL’s operational focus on improving productivity, unlocking available mining capacity, strengthening coal evacuation and bringing production-ready mining patches into operation at the earliest.
The emphasis on dewatering and the planned restart of Patch-C is part of the company’s efforts to strengthen production capacity in the Sijua area.
