BEML Secures $6.65 Million Order for BE220G Hydraulic Excavators for African Markets

BEML will supply BE220G excavators under the Mauritius order for deployment across Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, DRC, Côte d’Ivoire and neighbouring markets.

Bengaluru: BEML Limited has secured an order worth USD 6.65 million from Mauritius for the supply of its BE220G Hydraulic Excavators, marking another step in the company’s international expansion strategy.

The equipment will be deployed across key African markets, including Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Côte d’Ivoire and neighbouring markets.

The order strengthens BEML’s presence in Africa’s growing construction and mining equipment sector and is expected to expand the company’s international customer and aftermarket network.

BEML Expands Presence in African Construction and Mining Markets

The latest order is part of BEML’s strategy to expand its international business and establish itself as a reliable Indian original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for construction and mining equipment.

The multi-country deployment of BE220G excavators will help BEML increase its visibility across the African market while building stronger customer relationships. The company expects the deployment to also create opportunities for expanding its aftermarket support and technical service presence in the region.

BE220G Hydraulic Excavator: Key Features

The BEML BE220G is designed for construction and mining applications and comes with several features suited to demanding operating conditions.

Key specifications include:

  • Engine: 148 HP diesel engine
  • Bucket capacity: 1.14 cubic metres
  • Boom length: 5.85 metres
  • Arm length: 2.5 metres
  • Air-conditioning: Provided
  • Front windshield guards: Provided
  • Paint: Corrosion-resistant paint
  • Boom and arm colour: Yellow, in line with local market preferences

These specifications are aimed at supporting the machines’ deployment across diverse operating environments in African markets.

Order to Be Executed in Phases

BEML will execute the order in multiple phases.The deployment will begin with a pilot deployment of selected machines in Sierra Leone. Following the pilot phase, the equipment will be deployed across the other identified African markets.

This phased approach will allow BEML to establish the machines in the region while building operational experience and customer support capabilities.

BEML to Provide Warranty and Technical Support

As part of its customer-focused approach, BEML will provide comprehensive warranty coverage and technical assistance for the equipment supplied under the order. The company will also focus on responsive after-sales support as it expands its footprint across the African construction and mining equipment market.

The development is expected to strengthen BEML’s aftermarket presence and support longer-term relationships with customers in the region.

BEML Targets International Business Expansion

The USD 6.65 million order represents another milestone in BEML’s efforts to increase its international business.
