State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured an order for installing the steam generator (boiler) island package at the 2×660 MW Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station (TPS) Phase-II in Purulia, West Bengal. The contract has been awarded by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) through international competitive bidding (ICB), BHEL stated in a release.

BHEL is already executing the turbine and generator package for this supercritical project. The new order involves design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the steam generator island package. It also includes associated auxiliaries, electrical, civil, and structural works, along with high-efficiency equipment for emission control.
BHEL has played a pivotal role in DVC’s power capacity expansion, having installed over 75% of its coal-based power generation capacity across India. The latest contract further strengthens its longstanding partnership with DVC.
Earlier this year, BHEL secured another ICB order for the 2×800 MW Koderma supercritical thermal power project on an EPC basis. With over 1,70,000 MW of installed utility power capacity, BHEL remains a key contributor to India’s energy security and self-reliance in the power sector.
