Surat: Surat witnessed a major milestone in community-led educational development as Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the newly constructed ‘Jamanaba Vidyarthi Bhavan’ built by the Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj–Surat. The facility is designed to provide modern residential and academic infrastructure for students, especially those coming from rural and semi-urban areas of Gujarat.
Located at Maniben Chowk in Valak Patiya, Surat, the building aims to strengthen higher education access and create a supportive learning environment for youth.
Modern Facilities for 1,000 Students Including AI Lab and Library
The newly inaugurated Vidyarthi Bhavan is equipped with advanced facilities including:
- Residential accommodation for nearly 1,000 students
- A dedicated AI research lab
- A modern, well-equipped library
- Study spaces designed for academic excellence and collaboration
The project is being seen as a significant step toward combining traditional community support systems with modern educational infrastructure.
Tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with 31-Foot Panchdhatu Statue
During the event, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi unveiled a 31-foot tall, 9-ton Panchdhatu statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Attendees, including dignitaries and community leaders, paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel, honoring his legacy of national unity and leadership.
Auditorium Named After Keshubhai Patel Inaugurated
An auditorium within the complex was also inaugurated in memory of former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel. The inauguration was conducted by Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports Mansukh Mandaviya along with Rajya Sabha MP Govindbhai Dholakia.
The event highlighted the contributions of past leaders and their role in shaping Gujarat’s development journey.
Leadership Remarks: Focus on Education, Unity, and Nation-Building
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel praised the Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj for its long-standing social contribution, noting that collective community efforts can accelerate development on a large scale.
He highlighted:

- The role of industries such as diamonds, textiles, embroidery, and construction

He also referred to India’s vision of becoming a “Developed and Self-Reliant Nation by 2047”, urging citizens to adopt responsible habits such as conserving water, electricity, and fuel.
Community Contribution: 44-Year Social Journey and Welfare Initiatives
The Chief Minister commended the 44-year social journey of Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj, highlighting key initiatives such as:
- Around 67 mass wedding ceremonies
- A long-running “Planting Ideas” weekly initiative spanning over 140 weeks
- Continuous efforts toward social reform and youth development
These initiatives were praised as examples of organized community welfare and social responsibility.
Deputy CM’s Message: Digital Age Awareness and Social Responsibility
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi emphasized the need for social awareness in today’s digital era. He suggested that families should focus on value-based upbringing rather than excessive mobile phone use among children.
He also addressed women’s safety, stressing that society must support victims of antisocial behavior rather than stigmatizing them, and work collectively with authorities to ensure justice and safety.
A Symbol of Inspiration for Youth
The 31-foot statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel installed at the entrance of the Vidyarthi Bhavan was described as a symbol of inspiration for students, encouraging them to dedicate themselves to nation-building.
The event concluded with appreciation for donors, trustees, and community leaders who contributed to the development of the facility, which is expected to become a major hub for student accommodation and learning in Surat.
