The event highlighted the contributions of past leaders and their role in shaping Gujarat’s development journey.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel praised the Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj for its long-standing social contribution, noting that collective community efforts can accelerate development on a large scale.

He highlighted:

  • The importance of education-driven progress
  • The community’s contribution to Surat’s growth as the “Diamond City”
  • The role of industries such as diamonds, textiles, embroidery, and construction
  • The importance of preserving cultural roots while embracing modern development

He also referred to India’s vision of becoming a “Developed and Self-Reliant Nation by 2047”, urging citizens to adopt responsible habits such as conserving water, electricity, and fuel.

Community Contribution: 44-Year Social Journey and Welfare Initiatives

The Chief Minister commended the 44-year social journey of Saurashtra Patel Seva Samaj, highlighting key initiatives such as:

  • Around 67 mass wedding ceremonies
  • A long-running “Planting Ideas” weekly initiative spanning over 140 weeks

These initiatives were praised as examples of organized community welfare and social responsibility.

Deputy CM’s Message: Digital Age Awareness and Social Responsibility

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi emphasized the need for social awareness in today’s digital era. He suggested that families should focus on value-based upbringing rather than excessive mobile phone use among children.

He also addressed women’s safety, stressing that society must support victims of antisocial behavior rather than stigmatizing them, and work collectively with authorities to ensure justice and safety.

A Symbol of Inspiration for Youth

The 31-foot statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel installed at the entrance of the Vidyarthi Bhavan was described as a symbol of inspiration for students, encouraging them to dedicate themselves to nation-building.

The event concluded with appreciation for donors, trustees, and community leaders who contributed to the development of the facility, which is expected to become a major hub for student accommodation and learning in Surat.
