Lucknow: Land acquisition and infrastructure planning for the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) project in Uttar Pradesh have progressed, with 28,874 acres acquired out of 56,662 acres approved across 33 villages, according to data as of October 1, 2026.
The BIDA project is being developed around Jhansi as a planned industrial and urban development area. The authority’s own documents identify a Phase-1 activation area of about 1,000 acres for proposed development.
28,874 Acres Acquired for BIDA
Of the 56,662 acres approved for acquisition, 35,298 acres were approved in the first phase and 21,364 acres in the second phase.

According to the latest reported BIDA data, 7,026 acres were acquired between November 2025 and September 2026, including 616 acres during September 2026.
The acquisition is intended to provide land for planned industrial, commercial and infrastructure development within the BIDA area.
₹447 Crore Infrastructure Package Planned
A 2,320-acre area has been identified as the BIDA Activation Area, with the first phase covering 1,000 acres. A draft sector plan has been prepared, while the final approval process is linked to the approval of the master plan.
Proposed infrastructure works for the activation area have an estimated cost of ₹447.01 crore. These include a 132-KV transmission line, a 30 MLD water trunk line, roads, storm-water drains, electricity ducts, cycle tracks, footpaths, avenue plantation and administrative facilities.
The plan also includes an Integrated Command and Control Centre, entry gate, water-distribution pipeline, overhead water tank, electricity distribution network and a 33/11-KV substation.
The projects have been approved under the Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission, with detailed project reports prepared and under examination, according to the reported details.
Industrial Clusters and Water Supply
BIDA is also working on a cluster-based development approach covering sectors including data centres and IT, chemicals and defence. Around 1,000 acres have been identified for the proposed data centre/IT cluster, of which 810 acres have reportedly been acquired.
BIDA’s published documents also show that the authority is undertaking planning and consultancy work for infrastructure and investment facilitation, including projects related to its Activation Area and Master Plan 2045.
Water availability for the project has also been discussed between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Following inter-state discussions, Madhya Pradesh reportedly agreed to make 216 MLD of water available for the BIDA project.
Companies Express Interest in BIDA
Several companies and institutions have reportedly shown interest in the project, including Samvardhan Motherson International, BEML, Raphe mPhibr, Fair Exports (Lulu Group), Prabhatam Group, CONCOR and Sify Technologies.
The reported interests cover sectors such as automotive, defence, FMCG, healthcare, logistics and information technology.
The BIDA area is also being planned with wider connectivity links, including the Agra-Gwalior six-lane expressway, rail connectivity, a multimodal cargo park and links with the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.
BIDA also presented its development plans and investment opportunities at the UP International Trade Show 2026, where its exhibition stall received the Best Display Award.
