Bihar Opens Online Applications for EV Subsidies Under Electric Vehicle Policy 2026

The Bihar government has started online applications for EV subsidies under the Bihar Electric Vehicle (Amendment) Policy, 2026. Subsidies will be available for eligible electric vehicles purchased on or after May 15, 2026.

Patna: The Bihar government has begun the process of providing financial incentives to buyers of electric vehicles under the Bihar Electric Vehicle (Amendment) Policy, 2026. The Transport Department has launched an online application facility on its official website, enabling eligible vehicle owners to apply for subsidies with ease.

The initiative is aimed at accelerating the adoption of eco-friendly transportation across the state while supporting the government’s broader vision of promoting clean mobility and reducing vehicular pollution.

Subsidy Available for Eligible EV Purchases

According to the Transport Department, the subsidy will be available only for electric vehicles purchased on or after May 15, 2026, following the approval of the amended EV policy.

Eligible applicants can now submit their applications online through the dedicated portal made available on the department’s website.

Fully Online Application Process

The application process has been designed to be completely digital.

Applicants will be required to provide details including:

  • District name
  • Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) number
  • Engine number
  • Chassis number
  • Date of vehicle purchase
  • PAN card details
  • Bank account information
  • Other required supporting documents

The department has advised applicants to keep all necessary documents ready before submitting the online application.

Who Will Get the Subsidy?

Financial incentives will be provided under the Chief Minister Bihar Eco-friendly Transport Employment Scheme.

The scheme covers:

  • Electric two-wheelers
  • Commercial electric three-wheelers
  • Electric four-wheelers

The move is expected to encourage greater adoption of electric mobility while creating employment opportunities and supporting sustainable transport in Bihar.
