Patna: The Bihar government has significantly sped up the process of establishing new industrial zones across 24 districts of the state. The initiative aims to promote industrial growth, attract investment, and generate large-scale employment opportunities.
As part of the development plan, land acquisition and administrative processes are being fast-tracked to ensure timely execution of projects.
Social Impact Assessment Completed in Nine Districts
Social Impact Assessment (SIA) has been completed in nine districts, including Muzaffarpur. These projects have been categorized as being in the public interest.
In addition, nine more districts are currently under process, while work has not yet begun in six districts. Authorities are working to ensure smooth progress across all locations.
Administrative Push for Faster Implementation
Industry Department Secretary Kundan Kumar has directed all district collectors to closely monitor the progress of land acquisition and ensure timely execution.
He has also emphasized the need for swift action in handing over possession of acquired land to avoid delays and disputes. Officials have been instructed to ensure that land is cleared of encroachments and made ready for industrial use.
The government has also highlighted that it is receiving applications for setting up new industrial units, which will be reviewed and approved based on feasibility.
Industrial Zones Across 24 Districts
Industrial areas are being developed in the following districts:
Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Rohtas, Nawada, Arwal, Bhagalpur, Munger, Nalanda, Katihar, Aurangabad, Supaul, Siwan, Saharsa, Begusarai, Patna, Madhepura, Sheikhpura, Sheohar, Darbhanga, Purnia, Bhojpur, and Gaya.
National-Level Industrial Park Initiative
The project aligns with a central government initiative to develop large-scale industrial infrastructure, where only land parcels above 100 acres are being considered for industrial zones.
This initiative aims to develop over 100 plug-and-play industrial parks across the country, further strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Focus on Employment and Economic Development
The SIA reports confirm that these projects fall under public interest, as they are expected to generate significant employment opportunities and boost regional economic development.
Authorities have also assured that rehabilitation and resettlement support will be provided to any families affected by land acquisition.
Muzaffarpur Industrial Area Development
In Muzaffarpur’s Paru region, an industrial zone is being developed over 700 acres of land. The SIA process has already been completed, and the next steps involve land acquisition and compensation distribution.
Once completed, the project is expected to play a key role in strengthening industrial activity and boosting local employment opportunities.
