Patna: The Bihar state cabinet, chaired by the Chief Minister, has approved the construction of a 219.51-kilometre road network aimed at improving inter-district connectivity and easing the growing traffic burden in Patna.
The projects will be executed through the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL), which has been assigned the responsibility of preparing detailed project reports (DPRs) and appointing consultants.
Ganga-Ambika Path to Strengthen North-South Bihar Connectivity
One of the key components of the project is the 56-kilometre-long Ganga-Ambika Path, which will connect Bidupur in Vaishali to Dighwara.
This strategic corridor will link major infrastructure projects, including the proposed Har Har Nath Corridor, Sonpur Airport, and the Patna–Purnea Expressway.
The route will also integrate multiple existing and upcoming bridges over the Ganga River, such as:
- Mahatma Gandhi Setu
- JP Setu
- Bidupur–Kacchi Dargah Bridge

- Improving access for farmers to larger markets
- Enhancing trade and logistics efficiency
- Reducing travel time across regions
- Boosting tourism and industrial development
- Strengthening north-south connectivity in Bihar
Officials believe these developments will play a key role in transforming Bihar’s infrastructure landscape.
Step Toward Modern Road Infrastructure
The approved road projects mark a significant step toward modernizing Bihar’s transport network. With improved connectivity and reduced congestion in Patna, the initiative is expected to accelerate the state’s overall economic growth and regional integration.
