Patna: In a significant administrative exercise aimed at strengthening policing, improving law and order management, and enhancing operational efficiency across the state, the Bihar Government on Thursday ordered the transfer and posting of 29 police officers, including 27 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and two Bihar Police Service (BPS) officers.
The Home Department issued a detailed notification announcing changes across several districts, police zones, specialized units, armed police battalions, and training institutions. The reshuffle impacts police leadership in more than a dozen districts and includes important changes in the Patna Police Commissionerate and other major urban centres.
Officials indicated that the transfers are part of a broader effort to improve administrative coordination, strengthen district policing, and ensure effective deployment of experienced officers in key positions.
Major Changes in Patna Police
The reshuffle includes significant changes in the state capital’s policing structure.
Bhanu Pratap Singh, currently serving as Patna City SP (West), has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police (SP), Khagaria.
Parichay Kumar, serving as Patna City SP (East), has been transferred and posted as SP, Katihar.
Mamta Kalyani has been appointed as City SP (Central), Patna, while Abhinav, who was serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Patna Sadar, has been elevated as City SP, Gaya.
