Patna: The Bihar government has approved a series of significant proposals aimed at accelerating industrial development, creating employment opportunities, strengthening tourism infrastructure, and improving career prospects for athletes across the state.
The decisions were approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and are expected to support Bihar’s long-term economic growth and development strategy.
New Industrial Hubs to Be Developed in Saharsa and Purnia
In a major push for industrialization, the cabinet approved land acquisition for the expansion of the Saharsa Industrial Area.
Approximately 420.63 acres of land will be acquired in Bangaon and Devanagopal villages at an estimated cost of ₹88.01 crore. The project is expected to attract investments and generate new employment opportunities in the region.
Similarly, the government approved a proposal to acquire land in Purnia for the development of a new industrial zone. The project is estimated to cost around ₹1.25 billion and aims to strengthen industrial activity in eastern Bihar.
Large Industrial Corridor Planned in Kaimur Along Expressway
The cabinet also approved the development of a major industrial area in Kaimur district near the proposed Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata Expressway.
The industrial zone will be developed across 781.18 acres of land in the Chand and Chainpur blocks, with an estimated investment of ₹230.64 crore.
Officials believe the strategic location along the upcoming expressway will attract industries, improve logistics connectivity, and create large-scale employment opportunities.
Unified Clerical Cadre Across Multiple Government Departments
In an important administrative reform, the Bihar government decided to bring clerical employees from various departments under a single cadre.
The decision will cover employees working in departments such as:
- Road Construction Department
- Public Health Engineering Department (PHED)
- Building Construction Department
- Rural Works Department
- Planning and Development Department
- Urban Development and Housing Department
The move is expected to improve administrative efficiency and streamline personnel management across departments.
217 Inspection Buildings to Be Converted into Modern Guest Houses
To strengthen tourism infrastructure, the cabinet approved a plan to transform 217 inspection buildings under the Water Resources Department into modern guest houses and eco-tourism centers.
Located near dams, barrages, reservoirs, and water bodies, these facilities will provide improved accommodation options for tourists and promote sustainable tourism across Bihar.
The initiative is expected to boost visitor numbers and create additional economic opportunities in rural and semi-urban areas.
Government Jobs with Higher Pay Scales for Outstanding Athletes
The Bihar government has also approved the Bihar Outstanding Sportspersons Direct Appointment (Amendment) Rules, 2026, providing enhanced employment opportunities for athletes.
Under the new policy:
- Olympic medalists
- Athletes representing India at the Olympics
- Members of the Indian cricket team
- Gold medal winners at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games
will be eligible for government jobs under Pay Level-09.
Meanwhile, silver and bronze medalists from the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games will receive appointments under Pay Level-07.
The decision is aimed at encouraging sporting excellence and ensuring long-term financial security for athletes.
