Hyderabad: Telangana DGP C.V. Anand, a 1991-batch IPS officer of the Telangana cadre, has directed police officials to put in place comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming Ganesh festivities across the state.
The celebrations are scheduled from September 14 to 25, with the immersion of Ganesh idols planned for September 25. Anand reviewed preparations through a video conference with senior police officers and station-level personnel, stressing advance planning, coordination and vigilance throughout the festival period.
Pandal Details to Be Digitally Monitored
A dedicated online portal will be used to capture details of Ganesh pandals across Telangana. The information will include:
- Location of the pandal
- Names of organisers and committee members
- Vehicles proposed to be used during immersion
- Security arrangements and other relevant details

Station House Officers have been provided dedicated logins to monitor arrangements, while Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police have been asked to personally inspect pandals and record their observations.
The DGP also directed officials to geo-tag pandals and upload details of inspections and security arrangements on the TG-COP platform.
Immersion Routes to Be Mapped in Advance
With the immersion scheduled for September 25, police officials have been asked to identify and map immersion routes well in advance.
They have also been directed to:
- Assess the load-bearing capacity of roads and bridges along immersion routes.
- Plan traffic diversions based on expected movement and crowd density.
- Coordinate with other departments on traffic, electricity and fire safety.
- Ensure adequate arrangements at locations likely to witness heavy crowds.
Bomb Detection Teams, Dog Squads to Be Deployed
As part of the security arrangements, bomb detection teams and dog squads will be deployed wherever required. Police have also been instructed to maintain vigilance over suspicious objects and movements.
Anand further called for regular coordination meetings with Ganesh Utsav committees and peace committees and asked officers to brief personnel deployed for bandobust duties.
Police have also been directed to monitor social media and promptly address misinformation or other issues that could affect public order during the festivities.
