Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed the state government to accelerate industrial development by creating 11 mega food parks and establishing a 50,000-acre land bank to attract new industries across the state.
The announcement was made during a high-level review meeting of the Industries Department held at the Sankalp Hall in the Chief Minister’s residence (Lok Seva Bhawan), Patna.
Focus on Large-Scale Industrial Expansion
During the review, the Chief Minister emphasized that industrial growth is essential for transforming Bihar’s economy and improving employment opportunities.
He said the government’s key priority is to:
- Develop 11 mega food parks
- Set up food parks in all districts
- Create a 50,000-acre land bank for industries
- Strengthen investor-friendly infrastructure
He stressed that Bihar must emerge as an attractive destination for domestic and global investors.
Land Availability and Investor Confidence Key Priorities
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure adequate land availability for industrial projects and to maintain investor confidence by offering a stable and transparent environment.
He also directed that:
- Industries-related approvals should be provided in a time-bound manner
- Procedures should be simplified under the Ease of Doing Business framework
- Investor issues must be resolved quickly
- Incentives for new industrial units should be disbursed on time
He added that Bihar has no shortage of resources and must focus on leveraging its strengths effectively.
Push for MSMEs, Startups and Rural Entrepreneurship
The government is also focusing on boosting grassroots entrepreneurship and employment generation. The Chief Minister highlighted major growth potential in sectors such as:
- Food processing
- Textiles
- Pharmaceuticals
- MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises)
He also called for strengthening the startup ecosystem and promoting self-employment opportunities for local youth.
Plans for Textile Industrial Hub and Skill Development
CM Choudhary directed officials to work on establishing a Textile Industrial Centre in Bihar, which is expected to boost industrial clustering and job creation.
He also emphasized:
- Encouraging rural-level entrepreneurship
- Supporting youth-led business ventures
- Developing industrial skills and startup support systems
Land Acquisition and District-Level Coordination
The Chief Minister instructed district magistrates to actively engage with landowners and ensure fair compensation for land acquisition required for industrial projects.
He also asked departments to coordinate effectively to speed up land allocation for new industrial units.
Government’s Vision for Industrial Transformation
The Chief Minister said industrial development will play a crucial role in transforming Bihar’s economic landscape, stating that the state aims to achieve higher levels of investment, employment, and industrial output.
Industries Minister Shreyasi Singh and senior officials were present during the meeting.
Industries Department Secretary Kundan Kumar presented a detailed briefing on ongoing initiatives to attract investment and promote industrial growth in the state.
