Patna: Setting up an industry in Bihar is set to become more streamlined as the state Industries Department has launched a revamped Single Window Clearance Portal, bringing 62 services from nine departments onto one digital platform. The system allows investors to identify required approvals, submit applications, upload documents and track the progress of their applications online.
The initiative is aimed at reducing the need for investors to approach different government departments separately and making the approval process more transparent and easier to follow. The portal was launched by Industries Department Secretary Kundan Kumar on September 23.
One Platform for Multiple Investor Services
The revamped portal brings several regulatory and approval-related services together under one interface. Investors can check which permissions are required for their proposed projects and access the relevant application process from the same platform.
The system also provides visibility into the status of applications, helping investors monitor their progress without having to depend on multiple departmental websites or physical visits.
According to the Industries Department, integrating these services is intended to reduce procedural complexity and improve the overall investor facilitation process.
Industries Secretary Kundan Kumar said the revamped Single Window system would provide greater transparency and visibility in the approval process. By bringing services, applications and investor support together, the platform is designed to give investors a more structured digital process.

‘Know Your Approval’ Helps Investors Identify Clearances
One of the key features of the portal is the ‘Know Your Approval’ facility.
Through this module, investors can find out which approvals they need at different stages of setting up and operating an industrial project. The requirements are divided into stages such as Pre-Establishment and Pre-Operation.
Once the required approvals are identified, investors can directly proceed to the relevant application facility through the portal. This creates a link between understanding the regulatory requirements and actually applying for them.
This can be particularly useful for new investors who may otherwise have to identify requirements separately across different departments.
Services From Nine Departments
The portal currently integrates services related to nine departments and agencies covering major regulatory areas.
These include:
- Pollution control
- Prohibition, Excise and Registration
- Legal Metrology
- Water Resources
- Fire Services
- Energy and electricity distribution
- Environment and Forest
- Road Construction
- Revenue and Land Reforms
The official portal describes the system as a unified online platform for industrial approvals, allowing investors to apply, track and receive clearances without visiting multiple department offices.
Investors Can Connect With Officials Before Applying
The revamped system also goes beyond online applications by providing facilities for pre-application investor support.
Investors can use features such as Register Your Intent, Strategic Partnership and Investor Facilitation to connect with relevant officials before formally submitting applications.
The system allows prospective investors to obtain contact information, communicate with designated officials and schedule appointments at the sector or district level.
This gives investors an opportunity to understand the process and requirements before moving ahead with formal applications.

Less Paperwork, Better Application Tracking
The Industries Department has highlighted the portal’s role in reducing avoidable paperwork and saving investors’ time.
Director of Industries Mukul Kumar said the revamped system brings approval information, applications, document uploads and investor facilitation together at one place. The aim is to provide a simpler digital journey for businesses and reduce procedural hurdles.
The platform also allows investors to upload licences or documents already obtained and monitor applications digitally, giving them greater visibility over their interactions with government departments.
A Push for Easier Investment in Bihar
The launch comes as Bihar continues efforts to strengthen its Ease of Doing Business ecosystem and make the state more accessible to investors.
The portal is intended to address a common challenge in industrial approvals: different permissions often involve different departments and regulatory processes. Bringing these services together can give investors a single starting point for identifying requirements and initiating applications.
The initiative was launched in the presence of senior officials and representatives of major industry bodies. With 62 services from nine departments integrated into one platform, Bihar’s revamped Single Window Portal aims to make investment approvals more streamlined, transparent and digitally accessible.
