Hyderabad: The BRS Legislature Party has approached Telangana DGP (Law & Order) Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, a 1995-batch IPS officer of the Telangana cadre, seeking a cybercrime investigation into alleged fake, morphed and AI-generated content targeting its MLAs and other public representatives on digital platforms.
A delegation comprising MLC and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council S. Madhusudhana Chary and BRS MLAs D. Sudheer Reddy, Bandari Laxma Reddy and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy submitted the complaint to the DGP on Wednesday.
BRS Seeks Forensic Examination of Digital Content
The BRS leaders alleged that manipulated images and other digital material were being circulated to portray party leaders in a false and defamatory manner.

The delegation sought:
- A cybercrime investigation to identify those creating, uploading and circulating the content.
- Technical and forensic examination of the allegedly manipulated material.
- Preservation of URLs, account details, timestamps and metadata.
- Legal action under applicable provisions relating to cybercrime, defamation and dissemination of false information.
The party claimed that the circulation of such material was intended to divert attention from the controversy surrounding the alleged manhandling of BRS women legislators during the September 7 protest at the Assembly gate.
Sudheer Reddy Disputes AI-Generated Images
Sudheer Reddy alleged that AI-generated images were being used to portray him as using BRS women legislators as a shield during the Assembly incident.
He claimed that he had instead been standing in front of the women legislators to protect them and sought action over the alleged manhandling of women representatives.
The dispute over the images comes amid competing allegations from the BRS and Congress over the September 7 confrontation outside the Telangana Assembly. Police have also registered cases against BRS leaders in connection with the incident.
Party Also Seeks Action Over Erravelli Incident
The BRS delegation also sought action over an alleged attempt to reach party chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s Erravelli residence.
The party further demanded action against MLA Veerlapally Shankar over alleged remarks concerning Chandrashekhar Rao. These allegations have been raised by the BRS and have not been independently established.
Political Row Escalates Over Assembly Clash
The complaint comes amid an escalating political confrontation between the BRS and the Congress government following the Assembly-gate incident.
The BRS has alleged that its legislators, including women members, were manhandled by police when they were stopped from entering the Assembly during their protest. The Congress side has made counter-allegations regarding the conduct of BRS legislators, while BRS leaders have disputed the authenticity of some images circulated in connection with the episode.
The BRS has now sought a formal technical investigation to establish the origin and authenticity of the disputed digital content.
