Raipur: Chhattisgarh has achieved a major milestone in its industrial development with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) approving an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0)at Village Patewa in Rajnandgaon district.
The project, which is expected to attract investments exceeding ₹3,000 crore and create approximately 9,000 employment opportunities, will strengthen Chhattisgarh’s position as an emerging destination for electronics manufacturing.
The approval comes under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, with the state government highlighting its efforts to promote industrial investment, improve infrastructure and create a favourable environment for manufacturing companies.
₹210.56 Crore Central Assistance Approved
The Government of India has sanctioned ₹210.56 crore in central assistance for the project under the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster 2.0 (EMC 2.0) scheme.
The total project cost has been estimated at ₹432.08 crore.
The project will be implemented by the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC).
The state government said the approval reflects the Centre’s continued support for strengthening electronics manufacturing infrastructure and creating an ecosystem capable of attracting large-scale investments.
Rajnandgaon to Get Chhattisgarh’s Second Major Electronics Cluster
The proposed EMC 2.0 at Patewa will become Chhattisgarh’s second major electronics manufacturing cluster, following the establishment of the first cluster in Naya Raipur.
The new cluster is expected to significantly expand the state’s availability of modern industrial infrastructure and ready-to-use industrial plots for electronics and allied manufacturing companies.
The project is being positioned as an important step towards developing a broader electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the state, including component production and value addition.
Four Anchor Companies Already Show Interest
The project has already attracted interest from four anchor units operating in sectors including semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs) and smart electronics.

These companies have proposed an initial investment of approximately ₹365 crore.
The interest shown by anchor units is expected to provide an early foundation for the development of the cluster and potentially encourage additional companies and suppliers to establish manufacturing facilities in the area.
With investments projected to exceed ₹3,000 crore over time, the cluster is expected to create a wider industrial ecosystem around electronics manufacturing.
Cluster to Spread Across 306.56 Acres
The proposed electronics manufacturing cluster will cover approximately 306.56 acres.
Of this, around 150.56 acres have been earmarked specifically for industrial plots.
The project will provide several facilities aimed at making the cluster ready for manufacturing operations, including:
- Ready-built factories
- Industrial plots
- Power supply infrastructure
- Water supply
- Warehousing facilities
- Other modern industrial amenities
According to the state government, all necessary statutory approvals have already been obtained and the project is fully ready for implementation.
Focus on Employment for Chhattisgarh’s Youth
The proposed cluster is expected to generate approximately 9,000 quality and long-term employment opportunities.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the state government would work to ensure that local youth are equipped with the skills required by industries that establish units within the cluster.
Technical and vocational training institutes will be aligned with the requirements of the industries so that local candidates can access employment opportunities when recruitment begins.
The approach is aimed at connecting industrial investment directly with skill development and employment generation within the state.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw for the approval of the EMC 2.0 project.
The Chief Minister said that continued support and guidance from the Central Government was helping Chhattisgarh develop a new identity in the electronics manufacturing sector.
He described the Rajnandgaon cluster as evidence that the state has emerged as a reliable and capable destination for national-level manufacturing industries.
The project, he said, would provide new opportunities for the state’s youth while strengthening the industrial base of Chhattisgarh.
State Highlights Faster Industrial Approval System
Chhattisgarh Commerce and Industry Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan said the state government has developed a swift and transparent system for facilitating industrial investments.
The state’s ‘One-Click’ single-window system is being used to facilitate land allocation and necessary approvals within a stipulated timeframe.
According to the minister, the streamlined mechanism is intended to allow investors to begin their projects without unnecessary administrative delays.
The government is positioning faster approvals and availability of industrial infrastructure as key components of its strategy to attract new investments.
Boost to Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat
The Rajnandgaon electronics cluster is expected to contribute to national initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Apart from attracting investment and generating employment, the project is expected to strengthen India’s electronics manufacturing capacity, particularly in areas such as component manufacturing and value addition.
The development of specialised manufacturing infrastructure could also help create linkages between anchor companies, component suppliers and other businesses in the electronics ecosystem.
