Raipur: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh Excise Department has successfully integrated modern digital technologies into its operations, creating a fully tech-enabled system from bottling to delivery. By adopting an e-service-based framework, the department has not only strengthened monitoring but also established effective control over corruption, making its processes more transparent and reliable.
The department has implemented several advanced online systems, including e-challan, single-window login, user registration, real-time cash collection tracking, and a central video monitoring system. These measures ensure comprehensive oversight at every stage of excise operations, from production to distribution.
Digital Tools Streamline Operations
In addition to monitoring mechanisms, the department has introduced online systems for issuing NOC permits, a track-and-trace system for consignment monitoring, biometric attendance based on Aadhaar, and a toll-free grievance facility. Together, these technologies have enhanced operational efficiency and transparency, improving the reliability of departmental work and service delivery.
The tech-driven approach has had a direct impact on state revenue. In the current financial year, the Excise Department recorded revenue of Rs 7,851 crore by December, showing a growth rate of 10.50 percent and moving steadily toward the annual target of Rs 12,000 crore. Officials attribute this improvement to enhanced monitoring and transparency enabled by digital systems.
Enhanced Monitoring and Supply Chain Security
A modern video control room now oversees departmental meetings and policy decisions. Using digital dashboards and live data, officials monitor activities at all levels in real time. Additionally, technologies such as QR codes, mobile scanning, GPS-based truck tracking, unique coding on bottles, and digital confirmation of deliveries have secured the entire supply chain, ensuring accurate and accountable operations.
Promoting Good Governance Through Technology
The Excise Department emphasizes that structured, technology-driven workflows are helping achieve the state’s goals of good governance. Modern digital systems have not only improved operational transparency but also strengthened public trust in departmental processes. Officials highlight that continuous adoption of advanced technologies is transforming the department into a model of efficiency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.
