Chhattisgarh Transfers Nearly Two Dozen IPS Officers in Major Police Leadership Reshuffle

Chhattisgarh transfers nearly 24 IPS officers, reshuffling senior leadership across PHQ, IG ranges, SAF battalions and district police units statewide.

The Chhattisgarh government has carried out a major reshuffle in its police administration, transferring and posting nearly 24 IPS officers across key positions in the state. The extensive exercise covers Inspector General (IG) ranges, Police Headquarters (PHQ), Special Armed Force (SAF) battalions, district police units and the Raipur Police Commissionerate.

The latest transfers are aimed at strengthening police leadership, improving administrative efficiency and reinforcing law enforcement across the state.

New Leadership for Key Police Formations

Among the senior-level changes, Ajay Kumar Yadav, who was serving as Director of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose State Police Academy, Chandkhuri, has been appointed Inspector General, Rajnandgaon Range.

Balaji Rao Somavar has been shifted from IG, Rajnandgaon Range to Inspector General, Police Headquarters, Naya Raipur, while Prashant Kumar Agrawal, earlier heading the Bastar Range, has also been posted as Inspector General, PHQ.

The government has appointed Prashant Kumar Thakur and Ramkrishna Sahu as Deputy Inspector General, Police Headquarters, Naya Raipur.

Changes in SAF and Police Headquarters

Several important appointments have also been made in the Special Armed Force and PHQ.

  • Dharmendra Chhabai has been posted as Commandant, 8th Battalion, SAF, Rajnandgaon.
  • Shweta Rajmani takes charge as DIG, SAF, Jagdalpur.
  • Rajesh Kukreja has been appointed DIG, PHQ.
  • Bhavna Gupta and Ravi Kumar Kurre have been posted as Additional Inspector General, PHQ.
  • Suraj Singh Parihar has been named Commandant, 4th Battalion, SAF, Mana (Raipur).

Several Districts Get New Superintendents of Police

The reshuffle also brings new district police chiefs across Chhattisgarh.

The newly appointed Superintendents of Police include:

  • Sunil Sharma – Sarangarh-Bilaigarh
  • Chandramohan Singh – Dantewada
  • Harish Rathore – Koriya
  • Bhawna Pandey – Dhamtari
  • Trilok Bansal – Bemetara
  • Jitendra Kumar Yadav – Kabirdham
  • Chavhan Kiran Gangaram – Balod
  • Yogesh Kumar Patel – Surajpur
  • Rai Gaurav Rampravesh – Balodabazar-Bhatapara
  • Umesh Prasad Gupta – Bijapur
  • Sandeep Kumar Patel – Narayanpur

Additionally, Robinson Guria has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Raipur Urban.

Focus on Administrative Efficiency

The large-scale reshuffle reflects the Chhattisgarh government’s strategy of placing experienced officers in key operational and administrative positions. The new postings are expected to enhance coordination within the police force, improve law enforcement and strengthen policing across districts and specialised units.
