Indian Masterminds Stories

Raipur: In the February 2026 state-wise national ranking for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Chhattisgarh secured the first position among major states, reflecting the state’s outstanding performance in maternal health, nutrition, and women empowerment initiatives. This achievement marks yet another milestone for Chhattisgarh in advancing women and child welfare programs.

High Enrollment and Approval Rates Demonstrate Effective Implementation

According to the official data, Chhattisgarh recorded 93.37% enrollment under the PMMVY scheme, while the approval rate stood at 83.87%. The state also demonstrated impressive efficiency in addressing grievances, with 93.95% of complaints resolved promptly.

  • Cases pending for more than 30 days were only 7.07%
  • Pending complaints rate remained low at 4.96%

This data highlights the transparent and effective execution of the scheme. Notably, Chhattisgarh climbed six positions compared to the previous month to achieve the top rank among large states.

Government and Officials Applaud the Achievement

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the Women and Child Development Department officials, employees, Anganwadi workers, and field staff for this outstanding performance. He emphasized that the state government is giving highest priority to maternal and child health, and the PMMVY is playing a key role in providing financial support to pregnant women to promote safe motherhood.

Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade also praised the departmental teams, attributing the success to coordination, commitment, and field-level dedication of officials and Anganwadi workers.

Significant Progress in Financial Assistance

In the financial year 2025-26, 1,86,586 pregnant women in Chhattisgarh have been registered under the PMMVY scheme. So far, the state government has directly transferred ₹72.24 crore to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries, ensuring timely financial assistance to promote maternal health and nutrition.

PMMVY Strengthens Maternal and Child Health Services

The effective execution of the PMMVY in Chhattisgarh has not only enhanced maternal and child health services but has also emerged as a model for other states to emulate. The scheme’s success demonstrates how coordinated governance, digital monitoring, and field-level dedication can significantly improve outcomes for pregnant women and children.

Chhattisgarh’s top ranking under the PMMVY is a testament to the state government’s sustained efforts in promoting safe motherhood, nutrition, and women empowerment, making it a national benchmark in maternal welfare programs.
