Raipur: In a significant move aimed at strengthening road connectivity in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas, the Government of India has approved the extension of the Road Connectivity Project for Left Wing Extremism Affected Areas (RCPLWEA) and the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase-I (PMGSY-I) until 31st March 2027. The announcement was welcomed by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who described it as a key step toward development in remote and tribal regions of the state.

Boost to Road Construction in Bastar Region

The extension of these flagship programs is expected to accelerate ongoing road construction projects in the Bastar division, a region historically affected by Naxal activities. By providing additional time, the state government aims to complete pending road projects, ensuring better accessibility to remote villages. CM Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that roads are the backbone of any development initiative, enabling easier access to education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and markets.

Strengthening Connectivity in Remote and Tribal Areas

The decision by the Central Government is particularly significant for improving road networks in remote and sensitive areas of Chhattisgarh. Priority will be given to completing existing approved projects within the extended timeline, enhancing mobility for tribal communities.

Improved roads are expected to facilitate faster transportation, reduce isolation, and provide a stronger link between villages and administrative centers.

Economic and Administrative Benefits of Better Roads

CM Sai highlighted that the development of a robust road network will not only boost economic activities in rural areas but also strengthen administrative reach, allowing better governance and timely delivery of services. The enhanced connectivity will open new avenues for development, improve quality of life, and foster socio-economic growth in Naxal-affected regions.

Central Government’s Commitment to LWE-Affected Areas

CM Vishnu Deo Sai praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the government’s continuous commitment toward the development of Naxal-affected regions demonstrates a sensitive and proactive approach.

With the extended timelines for RCPLWEA and PMGSY-I, remote and tribal areas in Bastar and beyond are expected to witness accelerated development and stronger infrastructure support in the coming years.
