Mumbai: Bank of India (BOI) celebrated its 121st Foundation Day, marking more than 12 decades of trust, service and contribution to India’s economic development. The celebrations were organised across the Bank’s nationwide network, bringing together employees, customers, former staff members, pensioners and other stakeholders.
Established on September 7, 1906, with a single branch and a small team of employees, Bank of India has grown into one of India’s leading public sector banks with a global presence.
Bank of India Marks 121 Years of Trust and Service
Over the past 121 years, Bank of India has expanded its reach significantly and today serves customers across major cities as well as remote villages.
Key milestones include:
- Approximately 37,000 customer touchpoints across the country.
- More than 52,000 employees serving customers.
- A presence across major urban centres and remote parts of India.
- A growing global presence as a leading public sector bank.
The Foundation Day celebrations highlighted the Bank’s long-standing relationship with customers and its role in supporting India’s economic progress.

BOI’s Global Business Crosses ₹17.50 Lakh Crore
Bank of India has also achieved significant business milestones in recent years.
During Q1 FY27, the Bank’s Total Global Business crossed ₹17.50 lakh crore, reflecting the scale of its operations and expanding customer base.
In FY26, Bank of India also crossed the milestone of ₹10,000 crore in annual net profit, underlining the strength of its business operations and its focus on sustainable growth.

Rajneesh Karnatak Highlights BOI’s Journey Ahead
Speaking on the occasion, Rajneesh Karnatak, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Bank of India, said the Foundation Day was an opportunity to celebrate the institution’s legacy while looking ahead to its next phase of growth.
He highlighted the Bank’s role in India’s development journey and said the next chapter would be built on trust, people, technology and the aspirations of a Viksit Bharat.
