Basti: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday launched a major development drive in Basti district by laying the foundation stone of a Chief Minister Composite School at the Harraiya BRC campus and inaugurating development projects worth a total of ₹504.34 crore across the Harraiya and Kaptanganj assembly constituencies.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 77 development projects, aimed at strengthening infrastructure in sectors including education, roads, tourism, irrigation, healthcare and rural development.
CM Yogi Launches 77 Development Projects Worth ₹504.34 Crore
During the programme, CM Yogi Adityanath announced development works in both assembly constituencies.
Harraiya Assembly Constituency
The projects included:
- Foundation stones for 22 new projects worth ₹85.54 crore
- Inauguration of 30 completed projects worth ₹275.76 crore
Kaptanganj Assembly Constituency
The projects included:
- Foundation stones for 8 projects worth ₹62.08 crore
- Inauguration of 17 projects worth ₹80.96 crore
The implementation of these projects is expected to improve connectivity, education facilities, tourism infrastructure, irrigation facilities, healthcare services and overall urban and rural development in the region.

CM Composite School to Provide Education from Pre-Primary to Class 12
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Composite Schools represent a new model of education in Uttar Pradesh.
He said these schools will provide:
- Free education from pre-primary level to Class 12
- Modern infrastructure facilities
- Quality education aligned with global standards
The Chief Minister said the government is working towards improving education standards and ensuring that students receive better learning opportunities near their homes.
Development and Heritage Being Promoted Together: CM Yogi
CM Yogi said that the BJP-led double-engine government is working with a focus on both development and heritage conservation.
He highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the state government, including:
- Development of the 84 Kosi Parikrama area
- Restoration of around 1,500 temples
- Expansion of modern education facilities through Atal Residential Schools
He said children from labour families are receiving quality education and modern facilities through Atal Residential Schools.
CM Highlights Welfare Schemes and Direct Benefits to People
The Chief Minister said that before 2017, development works were affected by corruption, while the present government has ensured direct delivery of welfare benefits to citizens.
He highlighted several government initiatives, including:
- Free electricity for farmers
- Housing facilities for poor families
- Toilet construction
- Gas connections
- Other welfare schemes
CM Yogi said the government’s focus is to ensure that benefits reach eligible beneficiaries transparently.

Law and Order Situation Improved in Uttar Pradesh: Yogi
Speaking about law and order, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh has established a new identity based on:
- Peace
- Security
- Development
He said that before 2017, incidents of riots were frequent and restrictions were imposed on religious events such as Kanwar Yatra.
He added that the situation has changed and religious events are now conducted peacefully with better arrangements.
Focus on Infrastructure Growth in Harraiya and Kaptanganj
The newly launched projects are expected to accelerate development in both assembly constituencies.
The projects will contribute towards improving:
- Road connectivity
- Educational infrastructure
- Tourism facilities
- Irrigation systems
- Healthcare services
- Rural and urban infrastructure
The government expects these initiatives to create better opportunities and improve living standards for residents.
No Announcement on Harraiya District Demand and Other Local Issues
During the event, expectations regarding certain local demands were not addressed.
The long-standing demand to make Harraiya a separate district was not discussed during the Chief Minister’s speech.
However, local MLA Ajay Singh said that Harraiya would receive district status in the future.
Similarly, no announcement was made regarding:
- Restoration of the Manorama River
- Renaming of Basti district as Vashishthi Nagar
