Massive Security Arrangements In Varanasi
The Uttar Pradesh government and local administration have made extensive arrangements to manage the large crowds expected during the air show.
Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal said 79 temporary police stations had been established and around 11,900 police personnel deployed for the event.
Personnel from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), bomb disposal teams and Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) will also support security operations.
Police personnel will guide spectators arriving by train, bus, air and other routes towards designated entry points and viewing areas.
CCTV Cameras And Watchtowers To Monitor Crowds
Authorities have divided the viewing areas into zones, with separate entry and exit routes to manage the movement of visitors.
Barricading has been installed along long stretches of the riverfront, while CCTV cameras, watchtowers, metal detectors and public address systems have been arranged.
Security teams will also monitor the river and nearby areas. Anti-drone systems, all-terrain vehicles and cyber security teams will remain on alert.
Private boat operations on the Ganga are scheduled to be restricted during the air show, while unauthorised drone flights will be prohibited within a five-kilometre radius on both sides of the ghats.
Traffic Diversions And Parking Arrangements
Traffic management is a major priority because of the expected turnout of lakhs of spectators. Officials have prepared four traffic plans, including diversions, barricades and alternative routes for internal and external traffic.
Spectators coming from within Varanasi will be directed towards designated parking areas on the city side of the Ganga. Visitors arriving from other districts will be guided towards parking and access points in the Ramnagar-Padav area.
Separate routes will be used for different categories of traffic to reduce congestion around the venue. Visitors are advised to follow official traffic instructions, use designated parking facilities and allow extra travel time.
Medical Facilities And Emergency Services Arranged
The administration has also made arrangements to provide medical assistance during the event.
Chief Medical Officer N. P. Singh said three green corridors had been planned to help ambulances transport patients quickly despite traffic restrictions.
Eight temporary hospitals and around 100 ambulances, including two water ambulances, are expected to be available. Major medical facilities, including Sir Sunderlal Hospital and the BHU Trauma Centre, have been identified to handle emergencies.
Disaster response teams, water police, local divers and other rescue personnel will also be deployed. Drinking water, toilets and other public amenities are planned at parking areas and crowded locations. These arrangements are intended to support crowd safety and ensure a quick response to medical emergencies.
