New Delhi: Delhi is set to get a new headquarters for the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), with an 11-storey building estimated to cost ₹128.23 crore coming up at the existing IP Estate Bus Depot.
The proposed Delhi DTC headquarters building will have two basements, a ground floor and 11 storeys. The project is aimed at replacing the existing DTC headquarters, which officials say has become structurally outdated and insufficient for the operational requirements of Delhi’s expanding public transport network.
The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has now invited construction agencies to bid for the project, moving the plan into the tender stage.
New DTC Headquarters to Have 11 Storeys
The new DTC headquarters will be developed as a larger and more modern administrative facility.
The proposed structure will include:
- Two basement levels
- A ground floor
- 11 upper storeys
- Operational and administrative spaces
- Green areas and supporting infrastructure
The building will be spread across a project area of around 26,000 square metres. According to the tender details, the construction work is expected to take two years after the project is awarded.
The new headquarters will replace the existing DTC office building and is expected to provide the corporation with infrastructure suited to its present and future operational needs.

DTC Signed Agreement With DSIIDC
The project has been in the pipeline since last year. DTC signed an agreement with DSIIDC in December 2025 for construction of the new headquarters.
DSIIDC has now issued a tender inviting construction agencies to take up the project. The tender marks an important step towards turning the proposed headquarters from a planned project into a construction project.
Once the work is awarded, the selected agency will have two years to complete the building, according to the tender document.
Why Delhi Needs a New DTC Headquarters
DTC operates within one of India’s largest and most demanding urban transport systems. As Delhi’s population, travel demand and public transport requirements continue to grow, the corporation’s administrative infrastructure also needs to keep pace.
Officials have described the existing headquarters as structurally outdated and inadequate for the operational requirements of the city’s expanding transport network.
A new headquarters could provide DTC with more suitable working and operational spaces while bringing different administrative functions together in a purpose-built facility.
For a transport organisation serving a large urban population, modern administrative infrastructure can also support smoother coordination and management of day-to-day operations.
Operational Area and Green Space Included
The project includes a significant amount of space for operational activities as well as green infrastructure.
Of the stated 26,000-square-metre project area, 12,234 square metres will be used as operational area, while the new building itself will occupy around 6,158 square metres.
The plan also includes 9,681.71 square metres of green area. The tender information describes this as 20 per cent of the total land, reflecting an emphasis on incorporating green space into the new headquarters complex.
The inclusion of dedicated green space is particularly relevant in a densely developed urban area such as Delhi, where public infrastructure projects increasingly have to balance built-up requirements with environmental considerations.
Construction Expected to Take Two Years
The tender document provides a two-year construction period after the award of the work.
The immediate priority is therefore to complete the tendering process and select the construction agency. Further progress will depend on the award of the project and subsequent execution at the IP Estate site.
The project is being developed at the existing IP Estate Bus Depot, making the location significant for DTC’s future administrative setup.
A New Administrative Base for Delhi’s Transport Network
The new headquarters is more than an office-building project. It is planned as a replacement for an ageing administrative facility supporting one of Delhi’s key public transport organisations.
With 11 storeys, two basements and dedicated operational and green spaces, the proposed building is designed to provide DTC with infrastructure that can support its evolving requirements.
The ₹128.23-crore project also reflects the wider need to modernise public transport infrastructure in a city where buses remain an important part of daily mobility.
As the project moves through the tender and construction stages, its eventual completion could give DTC a more modern administrative base while helping align its physical infrastructure with the changing needs of Delhi’s transport network.
