New Delhi: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has urged establishments to make use of the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign, 2026 (EEC 2026) to bring eligible employees who remained outside the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) system under the statutory social security framework.
Notified with effect from June 29, 2026, the one-time campaign covers eligible employees who were not enrolled under EPF during the period from April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2026.
The campaign will remain open until October 31, 2026, giving establishments a defined window to review their employment records and regularise eligible employees.
Who Can Be Enrolled Under EEC 2026?
Under the campaign, employers can declare and enrol employees who meet the prescribed conditions.

Eligible employees must:
- Have remained outside EPF coverage during the specified period.
- Have been employed by the establishment during the relevant period.
- Be alive and continuing in employment with the establishment on the date of declaration.
- Meet the other eligibility conditions prescribed under the campaign.
The initiative is intended to extend the benefits of provident fund, pension and insurance to workers who were previously outside EPF coverage.
Relaxation in Past Compliance
The campaign provides specified relaxations to help establishments regularise past EPF compliance.
One of the key provisions is the waiver of the employee’s share of contribution in cases where the contribution was not deducted from the employee earlier, subject to the conditions applicable under EEC 2026.
This mechanism is aimed at making it easier for establishments to bring eligible workers into the EPF framework without having to address the entire burden of past employee contributions in cases covered by the relaxation.
Online Enrolment and UAN Process
Employers are required to complete the enrolment and contribution process through the prescribed online mechanism.
The process includes:
- Generating a UAN through face authentication using the UMANG App for each declared employee.
- Completing the required enrolment formalities.
- Remitting applicable contributions through the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR).
- Completing the process within the campaign period ending October 31, 2026.
EPFO Steps Up Awareness Drive
EPFO is also conducting awareness and outreach programmes to explain the key provisions of EEC 2026 to employers, employees, establishments, contractors and other stakeholders
The organisation is encouraging government bodies and public-sector organisations to help disseminate information about the campaign.
These include:
- Ministries and Departments of the Government of India
- State Governments and Union Territories
- Public Sector Undertakings
- Autonomous Bodies
- Other organisations and establishments under their administrative control
Employers Urged to Review Records
EPFO has asked employers to review their employment and wage records to identify workers who may have remained outside EPF coverage during the prescribed period.
The campaign provides a structured mechanism for establishments to address eligible cases and bring workers within the statutory social security system.
With the deadline set for October 31, 2026, EPFO has urged eligible establishments to complete the enrolment and remittance formalities before the one-time campaign closes.
